Panarin in his career is basically a PPG player. He's played on the playoffs almost every year of his career before he came to the rangers. He's not rick nash disappearing in the playoffs.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and forget he looked terrible in the bubble.

I put a lot of that performance on Quinn who was beyond awful at preparing his teams to play.

However, if he's invisible or tries the cute perimeter stuff in the playoffs this year, it's potentially a problem.

Watching the last few games has convinced me that Schneider is here to stay. Like in 10 years stay. The conversation is complete and Lundqvist is officially on the trade block.

While I didn't think Lundqvist was playing poorly at all (and he was definitely on an upswing) that position belongs to Schneider and will for a long time. Unless one of them converts to the left side, one will be moving. Schneider is not going anywhere.
That is definitely money in the bank Bob. He is a keeper and even more so then Miller who is not that physical and prone to many mistakes albeit still very young . The non physical part though is a concern . I'd prefer him as our 3rd left side D for the time being with easier match ups and more of a chance to grow . I think he is playing up a notch just to fill a hole .

Miller and Lundkvist for Chychrun? I make that deal everyday. Highly doubt AZ would take that but who knows.

They're not trading Miller.

Listen to the way Gallant talks about him. He has him in an understudy role for the PP now for the future. This was on record.

Miller will be better and more durable than Chychrun. Miller has been an NHLer for what, 366 days?

It won't change...he has his money . He does not care . Gallant has his money and he won't back down from tackling it head on albeit likely won't happen until next season when he has most of the guys buying into it and Strome gone . Panarin and Gallant will eventually be in a battle ....I hope Drury figures it out fast .

Let them have Chychrun, what can we give the Yotes for Lundell if this ever happened??

Kreider is absolutely playing his best hockey right now, but most of his points have been on the PP, and no one is advocating changing that.
The point is that we want to see if by loading KK/laf on the top 6 with strome (who both kk and laf have had their best metrics with), you start getting the kids going. If we get a big jump from both kids, at the cost of kreiders 5v5 production (which while at a career high, isn't that insane), we're now looking an overloaded line 1, and a line 2 that remains a top 5 in the league. And if Kreider manages to maintain that 5v5 production and boosts that 3rd line, well thats just gravy.

Kreider and Zibanejad have shared the scoresheet on 5 even strength goals already this month. It’s not just the power play chemistry. They need to stay together. They are the only consistent force we have at even strength. There are plenty of other things to try before breaking this up.

How many issues do we have?

This is 1 part of the problem. This is the worst Panarin has ever looked in the NHL, let alone on the Rangers.

This is another part.

We'd honestly be better served, going with 11 forwards, sitting one of our many 4th liners and just dressing Nemeth for the PK. He obviously can't move the puck at Even-Strength. He is not working.

I think we all need to remember that at the beginning of the season, it was a pretty much unanimous feeling that this was going to be a team that would take a step forward and should compete for the playoffs. The hot start and positives (Shesty and the PP) have amplified this a bit but they are sitting right around where we all hoped they would. Note the word hoped. I don’t think many would have expected them to be in this spot.

Moving forward, I’m sure Drury and his team aren’t done or complacent. They’re evaluating and looking at opportunities to improve without mortgaging the future. Continue developing and find the right pieces but there isn’t some rush that this needs to be done by the trade deadline.

I was never expecting our offense to be bottom of the barrel 5v5. That's the frustrating part. We have way too much talent to be that bad.

Lehkonen and Copp. Makes a great 3rd line. Drop Hunt.

Laf-Z-Kreider
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Lehkonen-Copp-Goodrow
Brod/Greco/McKegg-Rooney-Reaves

Would never happen but I’d like to see:

Laf - Zibanejad - Kakko
Panarin - Chytil - Goodrow
Kreider - Strome - Gauthier/Hunt
McKegg - Rooney - Reaves

They’re firmly in the playoffs. Let’s try to get the kids going.

This is what I said a year ago… ;)

Mika with 18 points in his last 13 games. At least our “#1C” is alive and thriving.

Really, 13 games? I remember reading from one of the local pandits that Zibanejad typically “underperforms” (a different word was used) but sometimes gets a lucky 5-game stretch that fools us.

If you’re going to deep dive into the schedule I don’t know why you’d neglect to mention 11 of those 17 games have been on the road. It makes a difference. Florida is 7-5-5 on the road too. They’ve only played 16/41 games at home.

Thank you for saving me time replying.

Does Marek watch hockey? AZ would have to add just with Lundell.

Marek has a TON of Hockey knowledge. One of the better guys around IMO and up there with Friedman with his connections. It does seem high to me, but there is a good chance that's coming from a close source which can mean a few things in and of itself.

Half his goals are on the PP and 5 of his 12 assists have been on the PP. How does that add up to most of his points being on the PP. If anything that shows his game has been in balance. Time for a Math refresher course.

Running out of patience with KK and Laf. I know Laf is young but wasn't he supposed to be the next superstar 1OA. Haven't seen any superstar in the making here. Kakko looks worse now somehow than 2 years ago. We won two lotteries but would have been better off with Zegras and Lundell. As 1c and 2c. Saved Mikas cap and kept Buch. Can't make this shit up anymore. On the other hand, no guarantee Zegras or Lundell would have made it here.

No you wouldn't. Zegras would be in the AHL for not being strong enough and "too creative" and Lundell would be buried on the third line with plodders.
