I have zero interest in Trouba

Why? :)
He is a good player, but maybe demanding concerning a contract value I doubt he will take a discount. Trouba is at 37 pts in 66 games about about the same production as Zucc with much less games in comparison since he is almost ppg with 39 pts.

Taylor Hall has one year left on his contract. Would Devils want to trade him or will he resign?

We are going to have tons of cap space moving forward. Keep picks develop them and add elite FA with limited movement clauses.

I’m going to speculate out loud that if Winnipeg can’t get Trouba under contract by July 1, they will resign Myers and shop Trouba. They really don’t have much choice. There’s always been a question about how happy he has been in Winnipeg. There’s a history of contentious negotiation. If he’s leaving Winnipeg, I’m sure the Rangers will be at the head of the line. The Jets need lower cost players. Skeji, Buchnevich and some other younger (likely unavailable) players would be in demand.

No thanks. Hes gonna be in the 8 mill range. I dont think we should be trading younger players or futures at this point. If you wanna take a run at a UFA dman fine, I mean if its Trouba for Skjei, Buchnevich and a pick for 8 mill id rather just throw an offer to Karlsson for 10.5 and I'm not really a fan of that road either but atleast we keep our young players.

Puljujarvi is exactly the sort of player a team like the Rangers can gamble on. They have the right environment for him to develop at a slower pace with the right kind of coaching staff, surrounded by other young developing players. You add him with the hope that he can be a 20-25 goal guy and anything above that is gravy.

I would move Pionk for him. When I was hoping we would sign him I saw him as more of a 3rd pairing PP weapon who might be able to be a 2nd pairing guy. I think he's trending more towards the 3rd pairing side of things if he can get a reliable partner and the right usage. I'd give him up to gamble on risk/reward prospect.
I agree, but I think EDM's ask is way too high. At the TDL, they were dangling him if the acquiring team agreed to take Lucic, which is absurd. If they'd take someone like Pionk, I'd be all for it, but it seems like that's not the case.

Trouba wouldn't cost all that. Trouba for Skjei straight up would be the deal. Skjei has 5 more years on his contract at 5.25 mil. Trouba is a pending RFA with 1 year left until he becomes a UFA. He can elect to go to arbitration, get a 1 year deal and then walk. Whatever the difference in their ability, the contract status more than makes up for it. If Winnipeg wants an add, they can try to get it elsewhere, but I don't see them getting a better offer anywhere else.

Said it before, say it again, he's worth a late 2nd early 3rd at this point and declining in value fast.
Yep. Fair if Edmonton doesn’t want to move him but I agree. That’s the rate right now. And it’s not going up, if at all, for at least a year.

What you are trading for Trouba is most likely worth more than a 1st+2nd+3rd for OS compensation.

Which is why if you want him, OS is the way to go. Not advocating for either, but one is clearly superior.

I can see the logic to signing Panarin. But giving up assets for Trouba doesn’t sound wise to me. He may be an incremental upgrade but I’d just assume see if there aren’t a couple front line defenders in the system.
Beyond that, I’m more interested in accumulating good players at this point than worrying about one particular position.

Puljujaarvi is the type of guy I'd trade someone like Namestnikov or Fast for. The Rangers have guys who should be able to replace them. They're depth pieces anyways ad they will make too much after next year most likely for this team. Pionk is a good idea too. Depth pieces.

Where is that first round pick? Those picks would all be 2020. Are we making the playoffs? What if that pick ends up being top 3? What if it's top 10?

If Trouba wants out of Winnipeg, then signing an offer sheet is a bad idea for him because if Winnipeg matches, then he's stuck there for the next however many years unless he can force a trade.

I think I’d rather trade Skjei and a plus than lose next years first second and third (I’m under the impression that they’ll still be outside of the playoff race next season with or without Trouba, and I’m also not advocating for either)
