Could be wishful thinking, but after reading what JG said in the link posted by RB, I still think Kreider is getting re-signed, unless his contract demands are that outrageous.

Am with you. I think he is back.

I kind of think we are just doing what he said:

Those are all offseason conversations right now. They’re certainly playing well. They’re two guys (Zbad, Kreider) we’d love to have.

What I was told by someone who knows is that Fox will either sign with Carolina as soon as his college season ends or he won’t be signing. It’s one big advantage the Canes have. The value for him is to burn a year of his entry level contract. I’d watch this closely over the next few weeks.

I get Fox would be a in a much better position on the Rangers to break through on D at the NHL level, pretty much ASAP, and I know there is some back story about him being a Ranger fan.

Just without there being a mitigating conditional attached should he not sign, that is a still a pretty big risk to take.

College hockey: Harvard's Adam Fox has 'true mark of a great player' | NCAA.com

Fox grew up in Nassau County on the north shore of Long Island just 30 minutes from midtown Manhattan, which is a prime reason he has always followed the exploits of the New York Rangers.

That combined with the opportunity... I don't think there's any doubt he'd sign if he were Rangers property.

CAR is loaded on the right side. Pionk really does nothing for them. The only reason Fox does something for them is that his upside is high enough to potentially displace someone.
For their AHL squad :sarcasm:

but seriously.. They've been talking about trading Faulk forever.

No Trouba. No Panarin. No one significant this summer. NYR is set to basically be in the situation Vegas was in this summer in a couple years was in except with a 1st line C in place and like 40M in cap room. Hold the line.

Carolina also solved the problem of 3 of their 4 best dmen being righties, by playing all of them in the top-4. Pesce is their 2LD right now. So now they have:

L-R
R-R
L-L

I don't particularly want Trouba, even as a Michigan alum and hockey season ticket holder.

He's overrated, IMO. He's never been particularly good at driving play or putting up points, but he wants to be paid like an elite d-man. He's very injury prone. Rarely plays full seasons. And will cost assets in a trade.

Go get me Adam Fox. Don't care if it's this offseason via trade, or the following for free.
I kind of agree. This is the first year he's really scoring like the player he wants to be paid like, and scoring is up this year and his team has absurd scoring depth comparative to almost every other team in the league.

I'd be very wary of shelling out he kind of money he'll want.

Also, yes if Fox becomes a UFA we should be all over that.

The big sticking points on Kreider and his potential for me (and hopefully JG) are term and movement clauses

If he’ll take 5 years he’ll be a Ranger IMO.

If he wants more than that, he’ll be moved.

Just so everyone is aware, if Kreider signs a 7 year contract he’ll be 36 at the end of it - saying this because I see so many people say “he’s only 27”.

I could see that, 5 is right on the line of me being uncomfortable but can live with

I'm ok with that too. I'm certainly ok with signing Panarin but wouldnt be disappointed if we didnt, other than that stay put

Pionk haters have to take a break. Between that and the jerk fest for ADA it's pretty annoying. Pionk isnt as bad as everyone thinks and the other not as good as everyone thinks. Its starting to look like the Leaf board in here.

Puljujarvi has moved to my do not touch list

Hip surgery at his age is a no go

Edmonton will never get fair value for him, they’ll sell for 25 cents on the dollar

At which point I would pay those 25 cents.

Give Edmonton Vesey for him

In hindsight though..... Jesus christmas, what a blown pick by Edmonton... When will we ever stop saying that?

Cant believe people want to add Poolparty. And you guys crap on Pionk.
Pionk has 2 less points in his career in 54 less games than pool party.. just for some perspective.
I really dont understand the pionk hate. Considering this is basically his rookie year and he was a UDFA, he's progressing fine.

The "Pionk hate" is due to the fact that people think he is talented when he really is kind of a plug.

he's a 2nd pairing guy AT BEST, and nothing more. The issue was that he was getting forcefed top pairing minutes when every single metric and eye test showed he was incapable of that

I've always liked Trouba, but I've never loved him as a player. And that's probably where I drift from some others on these boards. He's one of those guys I view as a good player, a nice player to have, but not one for whom I actively think up trade proposals.

Additionally, his durability is, and continues to be,a concern for me. Most NHL players don't suddenly get more durable as they age, even if they have one or two years of relative good health.

The people who dislike Pionk always point to this, and yet their comments significantly outnumber the comments of people "who really like" Pionk.

In most cases, they're usually rallying against people who don't flat out hate Pionk, rather than people who love him.

But it's almost a die by the sword kind of approach in which nothing but complete agreement requires the spilling of blood. In some cases, I'm not even sure that the most passionate posters realize that they are essentially arguing with themselves.

What you are trading for Trouba is most likely worth more than a 1st+2nd+3rd for OS compensation.

Which is why if you want him, OS is the way to go. Not advocating for either, but one is clearly superior.

1st+ 2nd + 3rd is 100% worth it, especially when you can just sing these BS filler guys and sell them at the deadline for 3rd rounders. Who says you can't buy and sell at that same time at the TDL?
