Has anyone been able to figure out how to connect the dots between the Buch trade and all this cap space we have this year? It’s like they planned a follow on trade (ahem, Eichel) that didn’t come to fruition.

It remains strange that they have all of this I utilized space this far into the season.

Its not about the space for this year.

It's about the space moving forward. Look at our cap situation now vs next year. It was going to be either Eichel or Zibanejad eating up a ton of space, they went with option B.

Another reason why it makes sense for them to add at the deadline this year. You won't really have the space to do as much in the coming seasons.

The cap implications of the Buchnevich trade were never about this season. Since the problem was next season, that means you're talking about rentals and teams like to see where they are first before trading away useful players.

Two good games from Hajek are not enough to redeem him from over two seasons of pure suckatood.

Let’s let him play a few more before we declare victory here.

Also I’m not seeing this bad Miller play a lot of the rest of you seem to be

The letter was only meant for gullible donks. And it worked like a charm.
WTF are you talking about?

The letter said the Rangers would be trading away/losing players the fans loved. The Rangers traded away/bought out:

Henrik Lundqvist
Marc Staal
Derek Stepan
Ryan McDonagh
JT Miller
Kevin Hayes
Rick Nash
Mats Zuccarello
Pavel Buchnevich
Kevin Shattenkirk
Jimmy Vesey
Michael Grabner
Nick Holden
Neal Pionk
Also fired AV.

In doing so they stock piled a ton of assets and assembled the current core. The were able to sign their best player Panarin with freed cap space, acquired their two best defensemen Fox and Trouba via trades made using the assets acquired in the sell off, made 9 first round selections over 5 drafts and have rebuilt the core and emerged with a roster and farm brimming with young talent.

In what reality do you live in that the Rangers didn't do exactly what the letter stated the plan was?

The following players who are on the team were acquired/signed as a result of the post letter sell offs:

Panarin (acquired using cap space freed up from sell off)
Fox (acquired using assets from the sell off)
Trouba (acquired using 1st rounder from Kevin Hayes deal plus Pionk)
Strome (acuired for Spooner who we got in Nash trade)
Kakko (2nd overall pick)
Lafreniere (1st overall pick)
Miller (traded up to get him)
Lindgren (acquired in Nash trade)
Lundkvist (acquired in McD trade)
Blais (acquired in Buch trade)
Goodrow

And on the farm:
Kravtsov (picked with the 9th overall pick we earned after the initial sell off)
Cullye (Picked using pick acquired for Andersson)
Schneider (Traded up to pick him using sell off assets)
Robertson (picked using pick from Zucc trade)
Jones
Othmann

Stop with all the facts and just accept that this has to be an alien conspiracy

If Hajek returnss a 7th, I'd do it.
I would not do it...it has been said on here a few times you need 9 able bodied Dmen on a Cup run....think about how bad our Cup run was against the Kings . I also remember Anaheim in 07 having trouble but despite injuries to Niedermayer and or Pronger and a couple of others they managed with the influx of decent spares who were familar with the system. For a 4th maybe I think on it but for a 7th for a Dman...not a chance .

No denying Edge said it....but what is in question is why Drury would leak it ? They have never leaked anything since Drury took over from what I have read on here .....so why this one . Maybe a beaten competitor for the Drury job leaked it...that would make more sense .

What in the world? I have no idea who Edge's sources are, but there are other people in the organization, other people who have sources in the organization, and another entire organization involved there. I'm sure there are at least a dozen people with some level of knowledge of it. "Why would Drury leak it?" is a really strange question.

LMAO...and what is even stranger is why did he not take that offer ?

Not at all, but I am a rational person and I can see that Libor Hajek sucks ass and has been the worst defenseman on the ice in every game he's played this season.
He does suck ass like Miller
But your assessment of his most recent stint is incorrect.

Miller is prone to mistakes for sure, but he’s been ok.

he’s also gigantic, and has the reach and speed to make up for his mistakes.

hajek makes a lot of mistakes too, but is WAAAAAAY less physically gifted than Miller

Nemeth is straight trash though

I don’t know what the advanced stats have to say about Hajek the few games he’s played this season but he hasn’t been the abomination some people are making him out to be. I wonder how much of the flack he catches is due to him being part of the McDonagh trade.

Was Buch part of the problem with regards to that?
Not at all but as a winger he was the odd contract out. I'm not saying the move was a good one but both grittier and younger forwards needed roster spots. Players like Blais and Goodrow etc are supposed to make us harder to play against.

Buch had good trade value regardless of the actual return.
