2024-25 General Dallas Stars Talk

Trouba has a 2nd year (@8m) on his contract, we should be safe from that mistake

Next year is quite literally the only bit of work he'd have to do to fit 10m for Karlsson, and that's assuming Johnston is getting 8+m with term, instead of a bridge
 
I hate how scared Jim Nill is to just pull the trigger and go all in. I hope I'm proven wrong I just don't think we're ever going to actually win the cup under him.

Every year "I like where we're at" - well that shit hasn't worked bud.

That's disappointing to hear. I think he would do great in our system. I would prefer him to some of the others i.e. Seth Jones. Can the Pens retain for 3 years theoretically? Probably too expensive though.

They could as they have an open spot, they probably don't want to. (they will get 2 retention spots back next season)
But there's no reason you couldn't use a 3rd team.

what does that even mean? I could see Gaglardi saying win at all cost, but then why would he not have given the green light to do so?

100% first words out of Nills mouth post deadline are this.
He'll work in, "I Like where we're at" too, after he adds some other garbage bottom 6 guy and talk about adding "depth" as if adding a cadre of #6 defensemen actually makes a difference.
Though at least DeBoer won't give them only 5mins a game even when they are getting caved in on the ice
