Too early to call a winner and loser just yet . I would say wait for at least 2 playoff years and then decide . Regular season stats means diddly squat for the results of this deal to be finalized . This deal should be measured via the long game ...not the short one. It is not like a coin toss.Blais is a very useful player. It was still a bad trade. Both can be right.
What is nonsense is the thinking that an anonymous poster[maybe an ex MSG employee ?] albeit vetted by more anonymous people has news on a deal that was better then one by our current GM . LOL...I think that is kind of funny too be honest . I also don't think we are getting killed either....but time will tell . I'm willing to give it a couple of playoff seasons .No. This is nonsense. The org is getting killed because we made a stupid, indefensible trade on a fan favorite and basically our only good RWer just to get a massive downgrade who doesn't even play often.
Edge said LA offered us a 1st and Kupari for him, so I don't believe this.
Feels like Drury just made a stupid trade and we spent all summer doing gymnastics to justify it.
Sorry I love edge but the kings did not offer that or we would have taken it. The kings had the 8th overall pick in 2021. And frankly I don’t recall him saying that anywhere to his credit
The Buch trade was awful, and it's nonsense to say they couldn't afford to keep him long term, pure nonsense. It's just people trying to rationalize a poor decision by the GM.
I would have liked to see the math on trading one of Kakko or (preferably) Lafreniere to Buffalo as a headliner for Eichel. Not signing Goodrow or Nemeth. Signing vet minimum goalie, Danault and Buchnevich, Trading Georgiev, Zibanejad and Strome. And seeing how that calculus looked. Reaves and Hunt deals still happen.where do you have the money to sign buchnevich long term? Seriously. Where is it? You have to pay kakko you have to pay Strome or bring in another center. You have to pay Fox mika there money. Miller soon Laf in a year. Where is it?
New coach ...new guys and 7 losses . Let it cook fellows as we are from a done product . I understand we all are not going to agree on GM moves and coach decisions and such ....and that is OK . We all want what we think is best for our team....and I am sure Drury and Gallant feel the same way .I would have liked to see the math on trading one of Kakko or (preferably) Lafreniere to Buffalo as a headliner for Eichel. Again Buchnevich was probably always going for cap so if we weren’t signing him what if you do the hypothetical Kupari trade from LA, and you spin a pick to STL for Blais to keep Drury happy.
Is the team better? Maybe? But I don’t know how far away from this being an off-season scenario would have been
Sure. That’s not my point though. Just talking about what the butterfly effect could have been.New coach ...new guys and 7 losses . Let it cook fellows as we are from a done product . The fear for me is we're going to pay a similar price for a lesser player on an expiring contract to fill the hole he's left.Buchnevich didn't fit long term here clearly. The market for a player like Buch sucked last off season. Couple that with the fact that many thought last year was Buch's peak and you get the return that we got.
Say we hold onto him this year, you think he has more value right now than he did last year with an expiring contract? People around here are so short sighted.
When he inevitably walked for nothing you would be on your hands and knees for a Blais + 2nd package.

I heard they wanted the Lakers pick, but LA only was willing to give the Clippers pick2028 is supposed to be a great draft. There's a 10 year old in Newfoundland who has been beating up on his peers.

Your kid?Can verify. He's my sister-in-law's sister's kid. Got a real mean streak too; start stockpiling picks.
Your kid?
He said "1st + Kupari". Not necessarily the 1st rounder in 2021. The pick we got from STL was a 2022 pick for instance. If that package was offered, it would have been a future 1st, possibly lottery protected.
He signed players to bridge deals because our cap situation was an absolute nightmare. There was no room for longer term deals. Its great if you want to talk about "locking guys up long term" but they want to get paid, and we're gonna have to do it again with laf/kakko and miller. If anything is to be learned from the Buchnevich situation, its that we must make better calls on which players should be offered a bridge deal and which players that should be signed to long term deals. Jeff Gorton signed a ton of players to bridge-deals, that with the benefit of hindsight, were terrible options compared to the value they would have provided if they had been long term deals.
I understand that, the main board also thought buch was overrated while he was here, and also thinks blais is an ahler. I don't much care what the main board says as maybe 2% of it isn't dribbleBuch's good play is contributing to this and the fact that there is a 15 page thread on how this was such a steal on the main boards.
Absolutely. But that's not what I was commenting on. Either way, complaints about the injury should squarely be at slewfoot subbanBlais' long injury history and proneness is a fair complaint.
Lol, nope. Brother's wife's sister.
But now I'm going to have nightmares.
