Any chance we can get a TDL thread up early? Seems like things are moving. This thread has a lot of "do we need a top five pick" and "is tanking effective" and all that and I'd really like to just be able to focus on trade chatter involving us. If not, I get it. Just a thought!

What trade chatter? All of this other stuff just fills the time between when we have any news.

Well we can fill the time with trade proposals and hypothetical deals and things of that sort like we always do in the TDL thread. I don't care to see the same breakdown of which teams drafted who at what spot and arguing the merits of tanking and all that for the 14 millionth time.

Yeah I think that is a reasonable request. In a meeting so if you want, throw it up.

Hey guys remember when we did that whole update so that we dont have to cap threads. Any who this is the XXX thread idc what the title says

I think brooks is right we aren’t moving kreider unless it’s an offer that gorton just cannot refuse. And that would probably mean McAvoy plus. Dougie Hamilton plus.

Moving kreider hurts us now and long term as far as I’m concerned. Hurts our powerplay which is actually a top 15 pp even more.

Personally find rehashing that for the millionth time more interesting that trade proposals and hypothetical deals that never happen. The quickest posts I skip are ones that have post-trade lines.

You sure you don't want to read this thread, this is going to get good, we are about to name all the things which have wheels.

"What is being said is that teams that are currently winning, have been bad enough to have top picks now playing for them." There is no flaw in that logic. It is fact. If you disagree, your perception of reality is distorted to the point that its not worth discussing.

To your other point... which had nothing to do with what I stated,

Again... no one is saying tanking is foolproof. Tanking doesn't make you an automatic cup winner. But the vast majority of teams who win... have been bad recently enough to have top picks playing for them.

Why is this so hard to understand?
Yes, there is. What you're inferring is flawed. Are we bad enough to get a top pick? It's a lottery. OTT/COL have a better chance of picking #4 than top 3. Sucking/Tanking no longer is a strategy because 'bad enough' mean not making the playoffs and entering the lottery. You inferring that we haven't been bad enough to get a top pick. Was Carolina bad enough? Was Philly bad enough?

It's also flawed since teams that received top picks AND WERE THERE short term/briefly start building a winner slowly. Teams that are there long term stay there indefinitely.

Some of you guys in this thread are delusional. Kreider is a good player, but never in a million years would he fetch Mcavoy. That’s absurd.

There are guys like Kreider that are probably undervalued in a trade and could be more valuable to keep around for a rebuilding team for another year

We're not really at risk of him being undervalued in a trade because we have already set the market for him as "We will not move him without an overpayment" so its not like we are 100% moving him, someone will HAVE to cough up more than they would like if they really want him.
