Terrible. Zaitsev has 5 years left on his contract. Take him out and it's still not worth it. Liljegren isn't enough to give up Shatty at 50% and Pionk and take on Horton.

We don’t need to move Namestnikov to afford Panarin lol we can fit him in easily
Vladdy has another year on his deal as well so he doesn’t NEED to be moved

Easily? Not when he’s going to be looking at 10 mil plus maybe. No certainly not easily. We have dead money on the cap as well. Girardis hit is big next year.

How’s he horribly overpaid? 4 mil for 2 years is fine for him
And yes, we can fit Panarin easily even with Namestnikov

4 million a year for a guy that puts up 4th line numbers? The guy was putting up 60 pts in Tampa comes here and is worse than Jesper Fast who makes a third of what he makes. He’s got what 5 goals and only 2 of them were with a goalie in the net.

Interesting bit on the Bobcast from Dreger about the Leafs and Kapanen. He said Kapanen's agent is in Toronto and meeting with Dubas, but wasn't sure what the context of it was. Could be just a touch point, but he noted that you never know what comes out of those meetings. If Kapanen's agent says they won't take a bridge and intend to play hardball or angle for an offer-sheet, what does Dubas do? Kreider at 50% starts to look like a pretty damn appealing option at that point. Leafs deal a guy they like and only have to "settle" for Johnsson/Tavares/Marner and Kreider/Matthews/Nylander for two playoff runs.

Vesey and Fast is waht you want from bottom6 players. PK, grind, produce somewhat and have a low cap hit. Names would be valuable if he had a $2M cap hit. @4M he's overpaid but still a decent bottom 6 player
