I mean...there is a very realistic chance we do make the playoffs the way we started the season off.....do we have much chance to go deep in them? Unlikely.

Yeah, that's where I was going with that - we might make the playoffs but retaining Strome for a "deep run" wouldn't be the right choice, IMHO

It’s like acquiring a player if Laf and Zibs can step up.
It took Zibs 25-30 games last year. That’s unacceptable. Even more so with his fat new contract. Last year was a Covid excuse. What is it this year? Please, the points are not indicative of how he’s been playing.
I’ve been meming the vegan thing but I’m starting to believe it. He looks anemic, lethargic and weak. Every body is different.

Why would a team making the playoffs trade Strome and disrupt their line?
Look at Montreal last year. And the Rangers HAVE the goalie who can steal series.
And players need some playoff experience. You add if anything.

To gain assets to make the team better for a longer period of time. With that said, if the offers for him are 2- 3rds or a 3rd and a fringe prospect, you just hold onto him and enjoy the run. If you can get a 1st in this draft or a 2nd and decent prospect, you have to consider it.
Strome is not going to bring back much. I don't think playoff teams are going to want him with the type of game he plays.

we're peaking at the best time. The cap has done a number on a lot of the powerhouses. Washington is the only one that'd be a concern in 7 games imo
IF Zibs and Laf improve.
IF Gauthier takes off or someone else is added
IF our 3rd pair is fixed internally

You self rent Strome unless a great proposal comes along. It’s time for this roster to start getting real playoff experiences.

In a 7 game series, this team would be expected to lose against at least 6 teams in the East. Car, tbl, fla, bos, wash, TML at minimum. Underdogs. Which is fine! You have to start somewhere.

I don't expect that. I think we can beat any team in a 7 game series. The only issue would be Washington IMO.
Once again, not as the team currently is playing. We have players like Zibs and Laf come online, maybe add a plyer like Gourde and fix our 3rd pair. There's literally no team we couldn't beat. We will keep improving.

I'd hope he'd get better. I've been impressed with his board play, he plays bigger than his size but everything else has been subpar.

I wonder if GG can get inside of Chytl’s head and convince him that he’s a beast and go out there and dominate. That and a little more strength, maybe he’s your guy.
