What do you guys think about Boko Imama as a Sammy Blais fill-in?
A 25 year old who has never played in the NHL?

He is closer to a Dryden Hunt fill-in than a Blais. Not to mention the heavy favorite odds would be that he just makes the team flat out worse.

We'd just promote Barron if we wanted.

To me the Mika line needs the exact opposite of what a player like Chytil will bring. They need someone that can slow the puck down in the offensive zone and make plays...that is not Chytil. Laf is better suited but not with how much he is struggling at this moment. Kakko might work best for now and then you can add some more speed to the Panarin line with Goat. I think Panarin hates Chytil so I rather just keep him as the 3c for now than try him on the RW of the Panarin line.
I think Zibs and Kreider need another forechecker. High energy player.

Kreider didn't go to the net enough in the game against Toronto, that's what he needs to do to keep being effective offensively. Zib needs a playmaker to release him into open ice with speed something Buch did well, also for Kreider.

That's the issue. Kreider ends up being everything. .

Someone needs to get in on the forecheck. If it's not Kreider, it needs to be someone else. I honestly haven't been impressed with Goodrows forechecking. Average. Buch over the past couple years was the one diving in.. It's compounded, once again, with how slothful Zibs has been.

That line either needs another strong and willing forechecker or for Zibs to snap out of it.

Ironically I think Kravtsov may have been a good fit on that line, at least based on his projection. Really unfortunate they didn’t just health scratch him for the opener, rather then send him down, like they did with Lundkviat

Benning has drafted well, but the trades he’s made have for the most part all been bad. As well as his UFA signings.
If they indeed need a shake up and need to infuse young talent, I doubt EP will even be on the table, but if he’s backed into a corner, Horvat or Boeser has the best chance to be traded imo.
Miller is a possibility, but he’s grown into an important player for them.
Ironically, the exact type of 2C we need. But I don’t think JT matures the way he did here, nor gets the ice time. We’ve all seen him display his stretches of talent, and he had some solid years here statistically, but I don’t think he becomes the guy he is now if he stayed a ranger.
It’s just crazy that a Miller or Hayes would make us a more complete team as a 2C right now, but that’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
Say Benning says to Drury Horvat for kravtsov/Chytil + Lundkvist + 1st???
Yay or Nay?
For Horvat I would do that in a heartbeat. I think he's just what the doctor ordered and would take this team to the next level.

Goodrow doesn't have the wheels or the hands, first line forechecking rw is not his job description. Speed is becoming increasingly important in the NHL. A lot of teams have retooled quickly with quick players, even if they are not heavy, and have had respectable results (Florida, CBJ, Anaheim).

e: Agree Kreider falls between too many chairs now as that line is limping along.

Tyler Toffoli is the guy.

Manageable contract with a little term.

Capable goal scorer.

Allows for VK to be traded with Blais stapled to 3rd line when he's healthy beyond this year.

Promoting Barron would seem like the most likely idea if things get dire.
It seems to me that they are hell bent at keeping him and developing him at center.
That’s most likely 1 of the reasons they sent him to the A out of camp. To get a lot of heavy center minutes under his belt.
Calling up Barron now would likely mean shifting 1 of strome/Chytil to wing, and I get why they don’t want to do that right now either. It’s kind of a weird situation.
I think if it’s just wing help they are looking to bolster, it will likely come via a trade for a guy on a short contract. Someone on a 1 or 2 year deal they can move easily by the end of the season if they want

If we trade for him Drury better have a plan to trade Blais in the offseason because he will never get his job back.

Lots is made of Imama’s Leaving the bench to fight/60 being awesome, but I think he is more than a one trick pony.

Dont worry youre right behind him. We have all had enough of your crying the last several months about Buchnevich and others.
I honestly couldn’t match a poster with a particular opinion…aside from @EdJovanovski … I think it’s better to take each post as they come. Don’t read too much into it. Skip ‘em if they’re too long or have pretend lineups. Just my two cents :)

The problem with adding a forward now is who would you kick out of the top 9? If you go by status within the team, Gauthier is the odd man out, but he's been one of our more effective forwards since the injury to Blais. If he can take this spot and run with it, that would be a huge gain. If you go by play as of late, then Goodrow, Lafreniere, and Zibanejad are probably your candidates for demotion, and we know that is not going to happen.

The team is playing fairly well. The record is still good. I don't think this is the time to make a panic move because of how the team looks on paper. We should run with what we have for right now.
I think now is the time to get a decent depth winger. Someone who can step in if there’s another injury. Don’t want to be *forced* to bring up a kid who might not be ready.

Ab So LUTE Ly

But we’ll have to part with probably six to eight legit pieces starting with Miller and Kakko and Laf.

I still do it. Gotta pay to play. Drury should do whatever it takes to make this happen.

How do you think Panarin and Fox will respond when they’re relegated to “afterthought” status. It’s a make or break decision very early in Drury’s career. I don’t envy him.

Would Tyler Bertuzzi have any interest for Rangers fans? He provides grit skill and can play 2ed or 3rd line minutes

Rangers trade Chytil, Kravtsov, Lundkvist and 1st in 2022, 2ed in 2023 and 3rd in 2024 to Red Wings for Bertuzzi, Larkin, Smith and Erne??

Imagine Larkin Strome Mika, Goodrow/Rooney down the middle
I wouldn’t trade our 2022 1st. We are one Putin doesn’t like Shesterkin incident from not doing the Wright thing.

If Barron was called up right now, he would need to be on the fourth line. He's not ready for a bigger role yet. In fact, I think he should stay where he is in HFD. It's not about him getting points -- which he does -- it's about him dominating shifts. I want him to drive his line's offense and be a consistent threat every time out there (or close to it). The only players to me that should be coming up any time soon are Jones and Kinkaid.

What do we think about luke glendening to help with faceoff woes? I want a rw to be added, but if anything, you can put him on the 3rd with gaut and laf and bump chytil up.

I’d say though, the difference between last year and this year is our fourth line can actually matchup well against other lines. It’s not a death sentence to be on that line. Last year, it was, and has been for a good while.
