A boy can dream. In reality, Chytil either needs to figure it out as a top 6 center or move to RW and play with Kreider and Z.

That line kinda is broke though.

My issue though is that I don't know that I want Lafreniere playing with LESS offensive talent in Goodrow at this point.
Sorry, I was referring to the Chytil line not being broken...but that has alot more to do with how 15 and 72 are playing than it does with 13.

not saying he is, but I've liked Goodrow more at C than at wing.

At this point I'm willing to throw shit at the wall.
Goodrow played center this season against teams who will probably end up at the bottom of the standings this year. Goodrow has played his best at wing his entire career. They need to get him back on the third line ASAP. He is out of his element on the top six.

I would like to see Gauthier with Zibanejad and Kreider at some point. You talk about a big line with pace and ability. It would solve a lot of the issues where Goodrow is on the line.

One thing I hope as well is that at some point Goodrow is used based on how he is performing. Move him to the bottom 6. If they go out and get a player to fill in that middle 6 role, there is no reason to send Gauthier to the pressbox. Gallant seems to like his game.

We can talk about how Goodrow was signed to a big deal and that he's going to have a big role, but if Gallant is a good head coach he will put him on a lower line if others surpass him. If Gauthier keeps this up, he'll surpass him. The result of that to me leads to a 4th line role. Goodrow-Rooney-Reaves/Hunt would be a very good 4th line.

It's not like Goodrow wouldn't be playing. He's got a PK1 role, he can move up and down the lineup based on the game. That was a big reason people liked the signing. Not that he is a middle 6 player, but that he is someone that can fill that role sparingly. As of now, he is being elevated in the lineup where he doesn't need to be and is dragging that line down.

Someone can correct me, but wasn't Goodrow primarily a center when with SJS?

Turcotte cant even crack a Kings roster with minimal NHL talent on it, not sure why he would be a target at this stage of the Rangers trajectory. Vilardi for Kravtsov makes sense as a change of scenery thing, but i think NYR are biding their time until the opportunity to trade for another top 6 C presents itself. Until then, I doubt they are very motivated to add another 21 year old to this roster.

vldardi makes a ton of sense. I think JAD does as well. I think JAD for Robertson makes a ton of sense, tho maybe others have a better read on what kind of player JAD might be but he seems to be holding his own in the A

I’d do Kravstov + Lundkvist for Horvat easily shit if even add Strome

We've essentially lost Kravstov anyway since he doesnt want to play for the team, so in a vacuum its like Nils for Horvat. I think there would need to be a pick thrown in there as well, but Horvat would be the perfect guy to throw on that line. Any teeth to this rumor?

I think its suggested on the basis that Benning is dumb or will soon be fired. If he trades us Horvat or Petterson, he likely will get fired.

If that trade hit the desk of ownership right before the trade call they would kill it and fire him immediately.

Benning has drafted well, but the trades he’s made have for the most part all been bad. As well as his UFA signings.
If they indeed need a shake up and need to infuse young talent, I doubt EP will even be on the table, but if he’s backed into a corner, Horvat or Boeser has the best chance to be traded imo.
Miller is a possibility, but he’s grown into an important player for them.
Ironically, the exact type of 2C we need. But I don’t think JT matures the way he did here, nor gets the ice time. We’ve all seen him display his stretches of talent, and he had some solid years here statistically, but I don’t think he becomes the guy he is now if he stayed a ranger.
It’s just crazy that a Miller or Hayes would make us a more complete team as a 2C right now, but that’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
Say Benning says to Drury Horvat for kravtsov/Chytil + Lundkvist + 1st???
Yay or Nay?

Kreider could use some help, he's dragging around tofuZibs.

When Strome is skating, he's really effective and the catalyst for the line. Panarin has been moving his feet much better as well.

Chytil and Gauthier are the epitome of what I want. They've been as good as we can hope for. Hopefully the 'coming out' party for both. Tag on Goodrow to chaperone them... we have an effective unit.

I said all that to say this, we need more speed/tenacity to help sustain our forecheck. ESPECIALLY for the Zibs line.

Gourde or Hagel. R.Smith would be a good fit as well but not as tenacious as the other 2. Josh Anderson would be perfect, stylistically, if it wasn't for that contract. IF he would get his jabs, Bertuzzi from Detroit is another perfect one.

TBH Berard cant get here soon enough.

Lehkonen from Montreal seems like a perfect target to me. Pretty much as close to Jesper Fast as you can get without it being Fast. Lots of speed, a huge volume shooter, and a shot suppressor. He's got one year left on a deal, and probably wouldn't demand a big raise given his numbers. (Plus it's another Finn finally so Kakko can have a buddy lol)

The standings are so weird right now and there's a lot of teams whose seasons could go either way. If the tide broke such that they're teams were on the outside looking in in a month or two, these players make sense to me as well:

Radulov
Jarnkrok
Donskoi
Nyquist
Roslivic
R.Smith
Zucker

Guys with an extra year, you probably need to send some salary back, or get some retained.

I like Lehkonen and he and Kakko practised together during the summer, but I don't know if that's the type of player we should be targeting...
