You just said you werent talking about the offense and that you wanted 2 way and hard forecheck.

quote: I'm not even talking about the offense. I'm talking about the 2way aspect and relentless forechecking Zibs.

You are pining for the player we saw from him in his prime years prior to getting covid which absolutely affected him. The odds of him ever being that player again as he shifts into his 30s are remote. It is called setting yourself up for disappointment...
yeah... as in I'm not worried about his offense. His effort and 2way game has fallen off a cliff. That also leads to more offense for him.

He needs to be more than just offense.

The concussions were the things that did him I’m as far as getting his nose dirty. Unfortunately, we did not heed notice and resigned him. He’s just wayyy too much of a passenger now to get his linemates involved. He’s a player that is great individually, but he doesn’t make the other guys on his line better

The problem is Goodrow is a zero on offense generally.
I think that would be better for kakko for example. It would force him to press the issue to create offense more himself. Plus he could set Barron up for some sweet snipes.
Not really counting on goodrow to put up more then 30-35 pts tops.
As long as he’s solid defensively, can win a big face off if needed, and good ok the forecheck and PK. Basically to come close to replacing the put output from Fast s exit

the only guy that interests me is Turcotte. I see him potentially being somewhere in between Point and Cirelli.... I'm fine with all those scenarios

I'd overpay for him.
I still say we make a play for Texier and try to get him at a discount. He would be a good center for panarin and he’s having a down year

Yea that Zibby checked out a long time ago. Ever since he had that suspicious upper body injury that we all think/thought was a concussion. It had all the hallmarks of one, but I think they said it was a fugazzi neck injury or something.
After that happened, Zibbys 2-way game was gone for good

resigning him and not trading for Eichel was a colossal mistake.
I tried to put the argument fourth of why it made so much sense to take the gamble on Eichel. there’s not a doubt in my mind we couldn’t beat that Vegas offer.
But that’s water under the bridge now. We all knew it was 1 or the other. They weren’t just going to let Zibby walk for nothing or trade him with no replacement of similar talent.
Eichel 25-30 >>>> Zibby 30-37 even when you factor in the neck injury and minor savings on the cap hit.
Really surprised more people weren’t on board

The issue here is the Pegulas did not want Eichel traded here under any circumstances

Kinda tough to trade for said player in that situation

Even if Drury “beat” Vegas’ offer, I bet anything Buffalo still send Eichel out west for a lesser return

Gallant is quite complimentary of the group he seems to like them. Says he is getting to know them now after 2 months together. We shall see how it turns out.

+ the end of this one is funny about shooting first vs tik tak plays.
Gallant keeps his business behind closed doors. Players appreciate that.

Mika is 28 and not ready for the nursing home just yet. He is only 3 years older than Eichel, costs 1.5 mil less, doesn't have a serious neck injury, and didn't cost any assets to retain unlike Eichel who would have cost plenty and may not even play this year. So yeah, I can see why not many people were onboard.

The six captains was a bad sign. My 'hope' (what else is there?) is now that Gallant was but giving the Captains rope, and at the end of that rope is responsibility. The other 'hope' is that Gallant is not only a teddy bear but one with a steel spine, he will need it.

The 6 A’s just made me think they were waiting for Fox to sign. Because he’s clearly the next captain

That is one dude that needs a fresh start elsewhere. I do think he has the talent to be a decent enough NHL goalie somewhere.
I agree. He definitely has talent. He needs reps. He has played very little the past three seasons. His development has been totally smothered.

I dont see why Columbus would trade him to us, a division rival. I like the player but I just dont see it unless JD gets one of his guys.

Making Fox captain is a great way to make sure he starts shitting the bed too. Lets not put a letter on a young player that actually plays well. Captain should have been Kreider or Trouba. 2 As. None of this everybody gets a letter crap. Just cause you have been here doesn't make you a leader.

Also, I get that it is the cool, I don't care I can motivate myself, approach to say teams don't need captains and that these players are grown men and can "figure it out themselves", but I have to disagree. Captains are important. People like and respect a competent leader. Whether that's at work, on a hockey team, for a project, for the country, etc.. Being able to go to someone that is there to help and has not only your hockey livelihood in mind, but your well being as a person, makes the team a more cohesive unit. Like a family.

In conclusion, trade Strome, name a captain, remove the As from everybody. It looks like a shitty peewee team at the moment.
