Insofar as the top 3 lines are relatively balanced I don't see why it's an issue.

Crosby played most of his career with grinders on his wings.
I don’t disagree, but Crosby did it while being a top 10 player of all time that was a play driving center with a good 2 way game, which Panarin is not.

I’ve said it before, but the team went out and made a big commitment to the worst player on Tampa’s energy line and is now using him as a crutch that I’m most definitely not comfortable using him as. A 29 year old with a career high of 26 points is not who I want centering our 2nd line.

Maybe I’m being irrational though.

I am sorry. I hope your sister had a nice birthday. Family, am I right?

I don’t have a problem with Goodrow at 3C. He’s not a fit at 2C. Just not enough speed which is something it already lacks. You need a forchecker on that second line that can get on quick. Yes good row is a forchecker but there’s not enough speed there to be first in. A yanni gourde would be great with that second line tbh. Gives it the tenacity and speed on the forecheck it needs

What has Laf done to become captain of this team? That's a bad joke.

I agree we need a C and rather soon.

Idk ... seems to me that Fox is playing his dream into existence, maybe having a C on his chest is part of that.

Atm Kreider is still my choice, specially with the way he's playing.

I don't care where anyone plays, as long as the team is scoring and winning games. Goodrow on line 1 with Panarin and Zibanejad? Sure.
No offense, but shouldn’t we care if the way the win is unsustainable ? Just posing the question

The lines are jumbled throughout a season. If we are going to dissect every set of jumbling it's going to be a long season.

Sometimes certain players compliment others. I don't understand the 'Goodrow must be a on the 3rd line or we will suck!' attitude

At the end of this day this team has no play driving centers and that is a serious problem.

Exactly!

But I am a little afraid for which type of centers would be considered play driving, the analytics hasn’t been able to tell the full picture before.

A Yanni Gourde type is a player I would want.

It is possible that Panarin and Strome don't want to play with Kakko, or that Z and K don't. It is also just as likely that they DO want to play with him and that the reason he hasn't moved is because it has been requested that their line stay together.

If Fox didn't waltz into the NHL a norris-caliber defenseman since day 1 (after somehow forcing himself here through TWO organizations, one being a fierce division rival) imagine the darkness this board would be in right now. This would be an unambiguous defcon 5 failure of a rebuild and organization. I shudder to even think about it.

I was thinking the same thing before.

Theres a lot of worry about Laf and Kakko but we also need to thank our lucky stars we got this dude AND locked him up for 7 more years.

Not to mention drafting Igor at 118

Part two of the Rangers saving themselves from being absolute embarrassments through sheer luck (part 1 of course being drafting Hank 411983209th overall and Jagr resurrecting his career here).

I'm sick of it tbh

Honestly, it could still go that way…

I don’t think the Rangers expected: (1) Laf to take this long; and (2) Fox to develop this quickly. Fox is the next Rangers captain.

I agree. I don't think Fox has the "Rah-Rah" personality that this team needs as a leader. Fox is the type of guy who leads with his play on the ice and should absolutely be given an A, but we need a bigger "personality" for Captain of this lackadaisical bunch.
I agree, we dont need a lead only by example guy, this team/org needs a presence, not someone that you hope will grow into it.

I even wanted Nash's M. Granlund but he signed a deal there and that was that. It doesn't have to be the "sexiest" C alive, just a solid well rounded pro with mobility and the ability to knit the line together. Granlund has 13 A's so far this season. Isn't Gourde priced out now after his contract with Seattle? Otherwise I agree he'd be perfect.

I find this line of thinking flawed. Fox was fully baked in college before setting his foot in the NHL. Laf barely got here, he hasn't even played a full season on a wonky Ranger team yet. This season is the first he has an experienced NHL coach to guide him, one who already took action to sort out "bad habits".

Aube-Kubel on waivers. I'd take a flier (ha) on him, speed to burn, great forechecker.
Agreed he didn’t look too bad on some of the games I’ve watched him play in. Definitely aggressive on the forecheck. 25 years old
