I don’t think Montreal is willing to give up on him, but something around Caufield for Kravtsov makes sense to me. The Rangers really need a shoot first player.

oh he’ll shoot. He’ll shoot from anywhere. My bias opinion, he’s the kid who always shot and rarely passed the puck. He’s the player who always takes the shot. Pass to teammate is a distant second and that’s being polite. I think passing is his 6th choice with his first five choices opting to shoot.

Instead of chasing grit/toughness, they should have been chasing some centers who could replace Strome and maybe even not rope them into a giant deal for Zbad.

Their priorities are always based on the most recent thing that happened to them, not so much on what they really need to improve as a team.
I mean, Yesh but that’s like saying I have $10 and I should have gotten a steak instead of McDonald’s. The grit they got was cheap and easy to get, and does fill a need. Getting two young top 6 centers is another thing entirely

Sry, but we should just play the f***ing kids and see what happens.

Don't want to see more assets flushed down the toilet for Radulov f.ex.

Our bottom D pair is way too weak to get far in the POs anyhow.

Zero need to be a buyer.
we've played the kids, they suck assholes, what's next?

Can definitely do worse than Radulov, considering we're suspiciously short on Russian right wingers with last names ending in "ov"

Expires at the end of the year, can fit him under the cap, has shown he can actually contribute with a variety of player types, unlike certain other skill players

There's some serious gaslighting going on lately. I've been meaning to post more and I see random "actually Lundkvist has been fine and should be playing" and I just close the browser.

Hilarious that anyone is defending Georgiev. 0.898 SV % over the last 2 seasons combined. He's not a capable backup in this league.

That is one dude that needs a fresh start elsewhere. I do think he has the talent to be a decent enough NHL goalie somewhere.

He was a decent backup.

He hasn't been decent for over a year now though. His numbers have declined every year in the league, and the proportion of stinker games keeps going up.

The team in front of him is hanging him out to dry, Shesterkin got lit up in calgary for the same reason...until we have a decent team ahead of him we have no idea what he is. The only teams that have allowed more shots are Chicago, Anaheim and Detroit

Georgiev sucks. He’s been an absolutely abysmal puck tracker and his inability to control rebounds has caused prolonged defensive shifts that wears out our defense. He rode a hot streak to start his NHL career and has steadily regressed since then. I’d love for him to rebound, but Gorton/Drury definitely overplayed their hand trying to get quality value for him.

So when Shesterkin's in net we're one of the best defensive teams in the league and when Georgiev's in net we're one of the worst?

Georgiev's goals saved above expected is -5.2
Shesterkin's goals saved above expected is +9.4

That's a difference of 14.6 goals!!!

No not accurate at all. Shesty is an elite goalie capable of stealing games.Georgiev is a back up. We had 45 shots against in the florida game and nearly lost it only that Shesty was out of this world, on the flip side he got lit up in calgary. The defense doesn't change it sucks, it sucks for both goalies but one is just an elite goalie and the other a back up, we need to be better, if we knocked 25 percent off the shots against Shesterkin would have shutouts every other night and Georgiev would possibly be a decent back up, but who knows we bleed shots. For example, Freddy Anderson looked like ass last year, the Leafs give up around the same amount of shots as we do, he goes to Carolina and now he's likely winning the vezina.

One of the things I think about with this conversation about Georgiev is how the role of starting goaltenders in the league has changed over the past decade.

You almost never see a goaltender playing 85% of the team's games any more. In the last full season the highest GP for a goalie was 67, and the average was closer to 55.

At the same time, there are a lot of backup goalies in the NHL who are really struggling.

Good. We need some of that mentality on this team

I find it funny that some of you guys think this team has too many playmakers/distributors. Let's be real, who on this team are actually quality playmakers? Panarin, Strome, Fox and that's about it. We absolutely need more playmakers on this team right now. This team doesn't pass the puck well at all.

Id argue they are mostly excellent passers, the problem is they force passes that aren't there on a nightly basis
