For a hot second.

Then Panarin went back to turning the puck over every second and it didn't.

He needs to stop doing that. He doesn't need to play a grindier game, he needs to stop playing like a moron.
Exactly.

One change for Panarin is he really needs to keep his feet moving, or quickly pass the puck off if he isn't. Trying to make a cross ice pass from a standstill at the NZ sideboards ain't working, go figure.

Panarin - Strome - Kakko is the one line that has most been proven not to work. They played together last season for a bit as well. I have to believe the time to put an end to that possible line combination is coming soon.

The idea that Panarin Strome Kakko works is a fallacy concocted by this organization (one of several). Another being that Nils shouldn’t be sent down. There’s just no empirical evidence for some of these overbearing beliefs.

The sad part being the fallacy is based on arrogance, ego, and ineptitude. 1 cup in 80 years, we shouldn’t think we know everything. Not sure who the philosopher was, but what was it they said? Wisdom is admitting that one knows nothing.

I have had a problem with Mika’s work ethic in most games. He’s had a shift here or there where he’s shown some buzz but he has been floating and perimeter 95% of the time.

I have had no problem with Panarin’s work ethic. Or less of a problem. For the most part - not always - Bread seems to be skating hard, aggressively trying to get takeaways and even engage a bit physically. He just seems like he’s snake bitten and letting it get to him, and in effect passing when he should shoot, staying to the perimeter more often, etc. But I don’t see a lack of effort from Panarin as much as a frustrated star gripping the stick too tight.

With Mika I see a guy who is literally floating around the ice thinking about his new wife and new contract and how sweet life is.

With the long break between games I think GG is just tinkering.

No reason to expect today's combos will leak into tomorrow.

I think a focus should be made on fixing our PP issues with all this practice time as that should be a simpler fix. With the same 5 guys it was a force last year and it would really go a long way to covering up much of our 5 on 5 warts, which seems like it might take more time to correct.

I know Fox is a huge asset, but let's get some puck and player rotations going where the puck ends up below the goal line. We're too predictable forcing cross ice passes from the point/half boards trying to set Mika's one timer up from 35 feet out or trying for a tip in front on a covered CK. Also they need to really start using the bumper guy (Mika or Strome) for either quick shots from the slot if they're left open, or as a give and go with the half boards guy to open some seams. Can't be forcing cross ice passes on a stationary comfortable in position PK!

I’m going to like my own comment. I poured my soul into this one. I’m waiting until it gets acknowledged. IM NOT f***IN LEAVIN

The PP is fairly predictable, and I don't know why they moved Mika out of the bumper, it's a better setup with him there, Panarin on the left wall and Strome on the right wall. It would be even better if they had a LH playmaker and a LH shot down low who could make the quick strike pass from low to the bumper or diagonally to Panarin but Kreider is not gonna be moved off the top PP.

Panarin has been a lazy f*** the first few games, and I'm pretty sure it's due to being out of shape. Which is pretty f***ing inexcusable for a guy you're paying $12M on a buyout-proof, lockout-proof deal with a full no-move. Strome at least looks like he's been trying.
His exit interview they asked him what his training would look like this offseason......it's hearsay but I was told he laughed and said he'll be smoking cigs in Paris.

Maybe that was an exaggeration from the guy, but my friend who works with Varlamov and spent a week with Panarin said he was drinking vodka all pandemic and not doing much, hence the terrible bubble showing.

Not worried about Panarin. He's too competitive to not be bothered by the dip in play.

I thought Panarin was hustling against Calgary but he was still turning the puck over and forcing passes that weren't there... It doesn't make sense the way he's playing. He looked fine the first couple of games but no one was finishing his setups...

Zibs was the one floating.

There was no fight or intensity in their game. There's no battle. They might be tired, after a long trip and a lot of games.... they may have enjoyed their return home too much...

It's was a massive letdown game. I fully expect them to come out flying on Friday.... or we have much bigger, long term problems.

Yeah, I have a feeling we're going to see a number of different combos tomorrow, unless of course these lines come out and dominate from start to finish.

Wouldn't surprise me to see GG try Kakko with Mika and Kreider and slide Goodrow back to Strome's line. Also swapping Laf and Goodrow from 1st/3rd.

The only line I think will stay intact all game is the 4th.

Goodrow has been awful. I was told this guy is a warrior. He's more like a pacifist.
Goodrow has been perfectly fine, getting better the more comfortable he gets. He's physical on the forecheck, wins battles on the boards, good on the PK, always finishes his checks.

Not sure what you're watching but you couldn't be more wrong.
