Tampa drafted Koekkoek and Connolly in the first round. That's just in 5 seconds of thinking about it. If you go through every team, they all have misses in the first round. No team is perfect.

The timing is interesting...Jets rumored heavily in on Stone / Hayes price down. Kinda hard not to read between the lines there.

If Dorion goes down to the wire again and doesn’t move his player at the TDL (like Karlsson last year) it will be infuriating for sure. Not that it necessarily means that the Hayes situation would have been different...but Ottawa, get your shit together.

Shesterkin is one of the top goalie prospects in the world. If he becomes a #1 goalie, the 2014 draft was a success, no matter what happens with the rest. 2015 was a bad draft, but Huska could still salvage it. And we still have 4 guys who might be NHL players from 2016 (Reunanen, Gettinger, Fontaine, Wall).

We made 10 selections in 2018 and we've gotten ZERO games out of them. Terrible!

Take a look at what other teams have done. The Rangers drafting isn't the best, but it's far from the worst.

Stone and Duchene can only go to one team each. The majority of the western conference is still chasing a legit playoff spot. The teams that get beat out for those players aren’t just going to pack it in and give up. It’s an arms race.

Yeah there is that possibility too, but teams looking to add know they have to get something done. They’re not going to sit and wait on Ottawa forever.

Knowing how Ottawa runs things, they’ll probably hang into both of them and watch them walk this summer.

We have some decent d prospects, but I love the idea of adding a guy who seems to be a near consensus lock for a top 4 NHL dman.

If hes the best player you can get, for sure.

You can only dress 3 LDs. We have Skjei for 5 more years. We traded McD and JT for Hajak. We drafted K'Andre Miller. We traded for Lindgren and Rykov. We have drafted -- a ton -- of LDs. Every other year there is a good UDFA LD available. We compete at hockey, not in the world championships of having the most LDs. I am not totally against getting another LD, but I would be really really picky about the next kid. Vaakanainen don't fit that bill.
