I am starting to wonder over to the side of “ the sellers should collude to not sell to gms who don’t want to pay up!” At Nashville claims for a good player, He will pay a good price. Don’t remember if Ottawa got good enough return for EK.I'm not sure I like the fact that Zucc's play hasn't warranted a 1st. Considering that the pick would likely be after 25th overall, I don't see why he wouldn't be worth that. Unless we get a Howden-level prospect I really dont get it, the guy has been dynamite for multiple seasons. His age? He's 31, easily has 4 years left in the tank, the fact that he's a UFA doesn't mean he isnt worth a 30th overall.

STL - WC1 - 4P cushion on 9th place team (VAN) w/3 games in handSt Louis, Minny, Dallas, Boston, Las Vegas could use Zucc. Imo they'd be silly not to part with a late 1st for him.
Yeah I know but it’s irritating that you’re trading a known commodity with a proven track record for someone else’s old 3rd or 4th round pick who is not developing enough for them to offer. That's just spiting themselves. A second and a prospect is still better than nothing.
I still believe the return for both 36 and 13 will be far below the perceived (over) value here
Once the dust settles, 36 and 13 both gone for less than equal value with a return of low 1st/high 2nd and B prospects the reality.
You start talking about “howden ” type value for zuc and a low 1st for 13 plus another so-so prospect and things start to look less interesting to me.
Then you throw in the possible reupping with mcquaid and this rebuild just got both more painful and longer at the same time.
Waiting 2-3 yrs for us just to get back to the level we we’re at few seasons ago doesn’t crank my motor.
We traded Duclair (arguably our top prospect at the time), a 2nd round pick and a conditional 1st round pick for Keith Yandle. A year and a half of Keith Yandle. Now Kevin Hayes is a big bodied center who is a rental. It is not unrealistic to get Tolvanen, who yes is rated higher than Duclair was, for Hayes. Hayes being a big bodied center with a lot of playoff experience is important to teams. May be valued more than Duchene and Stone if they become available. Plus those guys would likely require a 1st round pick as well. I would take Tolvanen straight up for Hayes. Heck, Zucc is outperforming everyone that may be available by a lot...the goal is to win this year. That is why you make the trade.Totally agree. And GMs in the real world value veterans much more than fans do. Of course there’s a time and a place for lottery tickets and prospects, like now with the Rangers. But many teams are in stages of development where a good veteran or two can put them over the top. Even if it’s boring. They need playoff performers.
Would Tampa have a desire to bring back Namestnikov?
Shattenkirk and Namestnikov for Callahan (50%) and a 3rd.

“I keep hearing the Bruins are into something big,” said one executive.
Secondary wings include Chris Kreider, Tyler Toffoli, Wayne Simmonds, Jakob Silfverberg and Gustav Nyquist.
At center, Matt Duchene is the pick of the group. But the Bruins don’t really need a top-two center to play a third-line role. Better fits include Jeff Carter, Artem Anisimov, Brayden Schenn, Charlie Coyle and Kevin Hayes.
In terms of prospects, Vaakanainen is the Bruins’ biggest trade chip because of his all-around game and near-certainty of developing into a top-four left-side defenseman. Vaakanainen is followed by Studnicka, Donato, Forsbacka Karlsson, Frederic, Jakub Lauko and Anders Bjork. The latter, however, is out because of shoulder surgery.
Conclusion
The Bruins are making a deal. Maybe two. The quality of the trades will depend on the quality of futures the Bruins are willing to cede.
If they can only land one, No. 3 center is the priority
Granted, kyperios has a less than stellar track record but there seems to be smoke with tolvanen
I sure hope we also have the right people in Hartford that can really grow these kids .....with as much money we have as an organization having people who are not the best at that could be an anchor moving forward with all these drafts which we are so not used to having . I don't care what it costs but ...just get the best people available in the worldwide hockey market to handle things down there....forget about loyalties and the buddy network .I will say Larry is dead on about Hartford. The front office should be embarrassed about how bad that situation is.
They’re the most valuable team in the league. They have the resources and dollars to make Hartford what the Marlies are to Toronto.
You need a strong AHL team. Hartford’s culture is that of a loser and it’s embarrassing
TB tried to pull off a sign and trade with St. Louis two years ago. It was either Johnson or Drouin to St. Louis for Shattenkirk with the latter signing a 7 year/$42M contract extension. That was a better contract than he signed with the Ranger. That $6M AAV in Florida is more than $6.6M AAV in NY. His contract is front loaded too. Shattenkirk will receive $16M of the $26.6M in the first two years. This year is almost over. $10.6M is left after this season.
TB traded Drouin for Sergachev. TB has Hedman and McDonagh signed for next season. Sergachev and Cernak are their only other signed D.
How much is TB willing to pay for Shattenkirk at 50%($5.3M combined salaries in the last two seasons)& $3.3M AAV? He is a bargain at that price.
The Rangers take back Callahan in the deal. The conditional pick in 2019 becomes a 1st round pick.
Shattenkirk to TB. Would TB give up Sergachev in the deal? He has struggled somewhat.
Mathieu Joseph is a good young player. The Rangers acquire a future 1st in 2020 or 2021.
The Rangers traded a 1st in 16, 2nd in 15, Duclair & Moore to Arizona for Yandle, Summers and 4th in 16(Renuanen). Arizona retained 50%.
Shattenkirk at 50% to TB for Callahan, 1st round pick in 2019, 1st round pick in 2020 or 2021(Rangers pick the year), 2nd round pick in 2020 or 2021 (Rangers get a 2nd in the year they don't take the 1st)& Joseph. Something like that.
Elliotte Friedman had a segment last night on the NHL Network and he mentioned Hayes to Boston as a possibility. Hayes would fit their needs perfectly.
It’s funny reading people calling for Tolvanen while simultaneously dumping on Lias in another thread. Their statlines are basically identical.

Why would we do this?Would Tampa have a desire to bring back Namestnikov?
