Lias for Pool Party would be very silly imo.

Seems like Panarin might be going to Florida. I'm still not sure how you go from wanting a major city to Sunshine, Florida, but it's sounding more likely. I wasn't necessarily in love with the idea of him coming here in terms of how it fits in the long-term plan but it was something to keep an eye on.

I think the rumor has always been that Panarin wants a big city or a warm beach in Florida. Plus he's good friends with Dadanov I believe.

Blues fan curious on Zucc.

Would I be in the ballpark offering a 2nd round pick and a forward prospect close to the NHL like a Sammy Blais? Or is that just far off/easily topped?

A 2nd + prospect has been the predicted return for a while now, but with his latest production you have to expect other teams jumping on him and potentially teams trying to outbid each other.

Somehow I missed the "or a warm beach part" so wanting to go to Sunrise of all places seemed like an odd twist to me.

Weird that they seem to want Bob too. I mean, he's a great regular season goalie but Florida has to be thinking it's time to actually try to win soon and he's a wreck in the playoffs for whatever reason.

Rangers fans are hoping for more, but it's really hard to say. The Boyle trade gave the indication that this will be a seller's market, but there are so many good players available that it's possible no one else overpays.

Gotcha. We probably don’t have a first this year which might keep us out of the rental market, but Zucc has always been a guy I’ve been enamored with so I was curious.

Gorton has said repeatedly over the last 2 years that he prefers prospects over picks. I know it's a pipe-dream but Bokk for Zuccarello (50% retained) is a deal I would prefer over a 1st and B-prospect

Personally, I'd be looking for a younger prospect. Maybe a deal around Kyrou? I don't know much about your farm system. At first glance, it appears to be top-heavy, but without much depth.

Bokk and Kyrou wouldn't be traded for rental Zuccy

Realistic deal would be STL's 1st and a lower prospect like a Blais/Foley(guy they got from WPG in Stastny deal)

Is Kyrou really viewed as a top prospect? I admittedly don't know much about STL's farm system. I know Bokk and Kostin are non-starters, but Kyrou as well?

He's not a blue chip prospect, but he's one of the tops in STL's system. Currently PPG and leading scorer in SA in only 32 games. I don't know about being a 'non-starter' but I doubt they have any interest in moving him for Zuccarello.

I think they need to make some noise. I caught some highlights of their game against Dallas and that place was damn near empty. A big splash puts some butts in the seats. I think it probably ends up bad for them with Bob, but that's just my opinion. I think he signs a big deal and checks out.

Kyrou is held in higher regard than Kostin in St. Louis.

Consensus among us is probably

1. Bokk
2. Kyrou
3. Kostin

Not sure Kostin could go for a rental. I think we’d probably balk at that.

@What Door has a pretty accurate assessment on our system. It’s top heavy without a ton of depth. One of the better guys in that next tier, Foley, is out with a concussion indefinitely too.

The price you guys might reasonably expect may just be too high for us. Guess we’ll see when Columbus and Ottawa uncork the bottle.

GMs can prefer prospects over picks all they want, yet if the select few buying teams are not making their best prospects available at some point they have to choose between a lower level prospects, or a pick that could turn into a higher level prospect, the same level prospect, or a bust.

The one good thing about Columbus is they may be a buyer as well as a seller. Same with Florida. Sucks to see more players hit the market but at least a couple of fringe teams are eating supply too.

Kind of along these lines, I wonder if Calgary tries to move James Neal. They are linked to wings this TDL while he can barely get a meaningful role. This isn't a suggestion to take on Neal as much as a general observation. I'm sure a creative move could be made but too much term for me.

The key is to identify a high level prospect in an organization that has a lot of depth in that particular player's position. The team appreciates that player but they are expendable due to depth. Fox comes to mind with Calgary. Granted he was available because of his reluctance to sign but that was borne out of their depth on d.

And to continue that, you won't get far asking for a forward prospect from Carolina, but considering their depth on D, Fox becomes a reasonable target despite lofty status.
