Trochek is the type of player I expect the Rangers to pursue. I doubt the Canes look to re-sign him with their recent acquisition of Kotkaniemi

Yeah good two way center with some speed. Don't know if he kills penalties but he wouldn't break the bank, like Hertl or Eichel, as a Strome replacement and probably fits better with the team they are trying to build

After the Zib signing, the impending Fox signing, we're gonna be hoping Chytil or Barron can hold the 2 spot because the money atleast short term isnt gonna be there and its probably not there long term either. Watching Panarin without Strome right now is painful though, so maybe he ends up on Zibs line if Strome moves on because the best he looked since strome got hurt was the brief time in ot with Zib. So basically what I'm saying is that Larkin might not be a long term possibility that you give up good assets for after signing Zib.
It's kind of funny to me that fans were all saying how Strome is worthless without Panarin. But really, Strome played well when Panarin was out last year and Panarin is the one struggling without Strome in the lineup these past 2 games.

Obviously, Panarin is a more elite talent than Strome, and he still scored the GWG last game, but it's because Zib set him up. It really goes to show that you can't just build a team around elite wingers. You really do need depth down the middle. And Chytil does not seem up to the task as of yet as a second line center - although I'm willing to wait a few more games on that.

It also goes to show how under-appreciated Strome is by the fanbase. The team is really struggling to score on 5 on 5 without him. Panarin has so much less time and space out there right now.

I think Panarin is struggling in general right now. I don't think it really has anything to do with Strome in or out.

If he wasnt on the Hurricanes, id be all over Trocheck. UFA after the season and i expect the Rangers to be in on him next summer. Old Gallant favorite from Florida too.

I've been advocating for Trocheck for some time already. He would be a really good 2 C. Suspect a decent cap hit and clearly an update over Strome.

I have a hard time seeing the Rangers abandoning Strome to go to Trochek. Their status and cost would be similar.

Ive been pretty vocal about this being a "put up or shut up" year for Chytil, and while he hasnt put up any points, i think hes done a real good job defensively and playing the "right way". Chytil/Kakko/Laf's collective problem offensively continues to be a lack of finish on their chances and they hold the puck too long.
I really think he could be a great 3C.. obviously 30% on draws is not acceptable. But he's good by himself. His play really isn't elevated with better linemates imo. I rather put him with guys that can consistently get behind the defense, forecheck and grind it out.

I was for Barron coming up and winning a spot ASAP but maybe it's best we keep as many of these young kids in the AHL and develop there. Would even be nice to see Nils there.

I agree his ceiling is more of a 40-50 point middle C 6, which is great for a late 1st round pick. Faceoffs are just something he and the team as whole are going to have to work hard on. I remember Kevin Hayes being laughably bad in the dots his first few seasons, but now he's a consistent 50% guy. Its an experience thing

Regarding Larkin. If he would be available for something like Kravtsov, Nils, Chytil I would do that trade in a heartbeat. I just don't see Detroit trading him. They are getting towards the end of their rebuilt, have a lot of prospects and heading into the right direction. I suspect them to be a playoff team in a couple of years. This year has already started very promising. Why would they trade one of their most important pieces in Larkin at this point?

Whether good or bad, not passing judgement, it appears to me that NYR have chosen to go the Miller route with Lundkvist, and will let him develop through the peaks and valleys of a rookie season.

Maybe it's me, I don't think he has been as bad as some on here have been suggesting. It's early, and by all accounts our kids in the AHL are having an adjustment period too.

We'd be greedy to expect everyone to take off their first professional North American season.

I don’t think this has been posted anywhere. I find this kinda funny tbh

The whole message board knows that Fox is going to get a makar/mcavoy type deal. They’ve prepared for it.
It’s also looking like LaF and Kakko might to break the bank on their next deals either.
Sit on it Pierre
Mika or his replacement if he wasn’t signed, was always destined for Stromes cap hit as a raise

My thinking is most fans would take a $9.99x8 deal immediately, that anything under $10 for an 8 year deal is a steal. Now if it’s the years that’s a problem, that Fox wants to go the Maker route and give himself a chance for another mega deal, I can see where there’d be real debate.
