The whole message board knows that Fox is going to get a makar/mcavoy type deal. They’ve prepared for it.
It’s also looking like LaF and Kakko might to break the bank on their next deals either.
Sit on it Pierre
Mika or his replacement if he wasn’t signed, was always destined for Stromes cap hit as a raise

I’m not even close to calling them serious disappointments but in no way from what we’ve seen should kakko and Laf break the bank. From what we’ve seen I would be happy if they hit 40-50 points this year and next

Explains why, despite naming six alternate captains, he wasn't one of them though. They probably figured he was a team-first player and willing to take a sizable home town discount to help them build a contender but management is a bit disenchanted with his camp wanting a near-record level deal coming off an ELC.

Sound like a broken record...

We need SPEED down the middle.
We need STRONG 2WAY Centers down the middle. (ie. Relentless pressure on the puck/strong forecheck/strong defensively/can win a faceoff etc)

That's the needed end-goal. How do we get there? Zibs is here. We need to fill in the slots behind him.

We need a center who can put up 70 points and also be elite defensively, as opposed to someone who can get 90-100 like Zibanejad but is more offensively-minded.

8x8.5

Same as Zibs.

I have an odd feeling this happens, as well. I think the other fanbases that saw their big dmen sign for near 10, when Fox comes in at 8.5 they will be pissed first, then start talking about how he isn't as good so it makes sense. Haha

That's an extreme ask. Tampa got by with Point-Cirelli-Gourde. Cirelli and Gourde are not 70pts players but they play a phenomenal 2way game. 2way speed is more important imo.

It's hard when you're not getting PP1 time to get that many points. As long as our middle6 Centers are great at even-strength and play an excellent 2way game, we'd be fine.

The 6 were curious picks. He basically chose the entire older core.
Fox/lindgren were certainly deserving, but I’m guessing he just wants the young guys to play and worry about the added responsibility later.
I expect LaF and Fox will have a letter when we name a standard captain and 2 alternates

Larkin and Lindholm are the 2 best candidates. Neither are available, and both would cost a substantial overpay to get traded here.
Eichel is the wild card. He’s got the highest cap hit and injured. But he’s available. Don’t think they go that route with Zibby extended.
Drury went pretty hard after Danault... that tells me exactly the type of Center he wants to target. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will be chytil, but it is still possible.
Barron is going to be the long term 3C. Would love it if he could turn into that 2C were looking for. Like a poor mans Keith Primeau, but I don’t know if he’s got the offensive chops for top 6 ( 2nd line) duty.
If he could surprise us all, that would be ideal. He’ll, be cheap for at least 4 years or so and finding a 3C like Gourde is much easier to obtain

It wouldn't be all that easy to fit either one of them under the cap next season either unless there's retention or we move a salary out, whether that's Chytil as part of a deal, or Nemeth. Not like there's a ton of wiggle room.

Wouldn't surprise me if they do go out and get a top end 2C that Chytil isn't moved to wing. He fills the Kravtsov departure.

I hate Lebrun, a known Ranger hater. He got some kind of perverse joy and pleasure cackling about the Rangers cap situation and went out of his way to say we overpaid Goodrow. Have some professionalism.
Anyone worrying about the cap in this era is a clown. This league is full of Ottawas, Buffalos, and Arizonas lining up year in and year out to suckle from Tampa's caploaded tits so they can hit the basement

In fairness, we did overpay Goodrow.

I’d assume chytil would go back if a replacement for him was being brought in. We also have a little buyout money feeing up as well as Stromes hit likely gone and georgiev.
I don’t think they are too happy paying him 2.5 mill for what he provides tbh.
Kakko likely also gets less then people are thinking.
They will definitely have to space to add someone if they want without sacrificing too much.

It would be helpful for the organization if Chytil or Barron proved to be that solid, 2-way 3C who could put up 40-50 points. From there the team can use it's assets to find the right 2C. I get the sense that no major move will be made until next off-season at the earliest.

Why do people keep talking about Larkin? He's Detroit's captain and isn't going anywhere.
Yea it’s almost 0% chance of acquiring Larkin or lindholm.
Finding a guy in that mold isn’t going to be an easy task. And it’s likely going to cost a lot to get him here.
Maybe try to convince Tampa to part with Cirelli if they need cap? I have no idea.
I was big on Dvorak. Thought he would have been a great add for 3-4 years
