Joe sakic said the avalanche werent moving their 2 first rounders this year, or any of their top prospects. Just minor moves for them.

Well for his sake he better hope both picks land in the top 10.

The Avs haven't drafted a guy outside the top 10, who has played more than 86 games for them, since O'Reilly in 2009.

And the list of guys who have played more than 86 games total (including other teams) in the last decade isn't looking too hot either.

Sure. Edmonton adds a pick in 2020. Let me continue down that road.

Hayes then goes to Calgary for a 1st (2019 or 2020) and a young defenseman. Maybe NYR will add something small. Some conditional add if the Flames resign him/go to SCF.

Zucc to Dallas. Or San Jose. Or The Peg. For a 1st. If they want to dump a bad contract expiring 2020 at the latest, we acquire a prospect (Potential depending on the $$ involved)

McQuaid to Toronto. For a Horton Not named Tim, a B prospect and a 3rd.

There is no offer that the Rangers should make for the Ottawa pick, until we know where it lands. The cost would be sky high, there is no guarantee it is in the top 3 and it would be a mistake that sets this franchise back 5 years.
I’m not advocating us going after that pick. I think it would hurt too much to acquire it.

I was just stating I felt the original offer from another poster wasn’t close enough for the Avs to consider it and I counter with something I thought might get it done.

Mckenzie supposedly said something about the conditional pick we got from tampa but then deleted it. Does anyone know what he said?

He said they can't trade it because of the conditioned assigned to it. Meaning you cannot simply assume they wont win and let them trade their first because if they do then the Rangers hold the rights to that pick. So they can't trade a 1st or 2nd in 2019 due to those conditions. Rangers technically hold both right now and also neither. Schrodinger's Pick if you will

I saw him tweet that there aren't stipulations on the 1st that he's aware of that make it 2019. So hypothetically, TB could trade their 1st this year and if they win the cup, give NYR the 2020 1st.

Which did not sound correct and he deleted that.

What if Rangers take Cally in the condition they get both ?

I can not get over Boyle getting a 2nd!! So Toronto said a 3rd and NJ told the Preds and Preds upped it?

I think Zucc gets moved sooner and Hayes is dealt on deadline day

The extra 31 spots isn't worth the burden of that deal. The difference is talent is negligible. And on a matter of principle, we got bent over in the trade that sent him to TB. With worse terms on the conditional of the 1st. If Tampa is going to send him back here, it better be with 2 other guaranteed 1sts.
Edit: I see you are asking for both picks. I would want a little more for the flexibility and opportunity it grants them.

In "The Game of Musical Chairs for Centermen at the NHL 2019 TDL", the Koivu injury likely means a bit more interest for centers. If Duchene resigns, or goes to Brooklyn as speculated, even another chair is gone. Likely ups the price elsewhere. Time will tell. Sux for Koivu tho

Vesalainen’s name is tossed around. That kid really scares me a lot. Think it’s impossible to not associate him with Mikko Raantanen. He is the next big finish kid with a ton of skill? He is a young kid, doing OK in the KHL. He has a lot of size and some offensive tools. He put up pts the little stint he was in the AHL.

But he just don’t push the buttons for me at when I see him play. Saw him in the KHL yesterday. Little intensity. Skating is a bit of an issue. Loves those long range stick handle moves, but he don’t play that well in traffic. Think there was a good reason for why he dropped in 17’. Now many perceive this kid as a real Grade A prospect. I don’t claim to have perfect track of him, but I would be surprised if he became a good NHLer.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if Winnipeg considered ‘selling high’ on him. Real Nichuskin warning on that kid. They must know that. Don’t think they regret the pick, but I can’t imagine that they think he is likely to become a future core piece. OTOH, he has a great track record and buzz right now. Hayes for Vesalainen and some spare parts could turn into a real bummer...

Yea I’d think making it a for sure 1st and only 1 year left on that contract is worth it

Don’t think they are gonna give more than that
