Gropp?
Ronning?
Considering Lettieri has gotten tons of chances under 2 coaches and not shown any growth, not sure he's ever going to be more than a AAAA player. Too good for the AHL, not good enough for the NHL.

Ronning is in the ECHL.

Gropp would be nice to see, not sure though. I'd like to see Meskanen. Or bring up Belesky to play the McLord role, he was fine in his last stint here.

I think We now go get Kassian from Edmonton as a piece of a bigger deal

Wouldn't be surprised. Quinn has been pretty adamant that the team isn't tough enough and they just dealt the one guy who consistently plays a physical game -- albeit a slow and lousy one.

Add to that the fact that they called up Lettieri instead of Beleskey who seems like the obvious McLeod replacement and perhaps there's a little showcasing going on with Lettieri. He's young, fast, and can shoot. Worth a gamble for a team like Edmonton.

Sekera is going to hit the books after his conditioning stint and the Oilers need to clear space in order to do so. Talbot is really unhappy there. Rangers could do him a favor and acquire him, give him the rest of the season to reset with Allaire and try to rebuild his value for free agency.

Talbot and Kassian to NY and they add Puljujarvi for a couple guys on ELCs and limited upside?

True, but The Avs have no reason to move it. Their window isn’t wide open yet. They can afford to let this play out.

They either land a top 2 pick and add a potentially elite talent on an ELC or have a chance to trade the lesser pick for a player with term if they don’t like their draft options.

They also have a good amount of cap space and can go after some big UFAs. So they really have no reason to trade that pick for anything less than an overpayment.
The Avs may have no reason to make the deal and sure, if you are them you can ask for whatever you want. But there is NO WAY that ANY team would EVER give them two thirds of their top line. I am sure that they would take it, but you cannot trade two young, legit top line players that are only getting better for a draft pick. What is being described is not even an overpayment. It is a fantasy land trade that would only be done in a video game, set to a very easy level.

We should not take on any bad contracts until Mid-July at the absolute earliest and of those nothing that expires later than next year.
Bingo. Should not eat any cap space up that can be used to trade for or sign high-end talent. If we miss out, that's when you take on bad contracts for picks/prospects

I was completely joking, those 2 are nowhere near getting a call up, from all accounts they kind of suck. Letteri deserved it, as he was playing well when he was sent down

He may not be the guy we want but he's the call up we deserve.

Since I think UFAs are a bad idea at this juncture, I would have no issue with them taking back year or two left cap dumps which have value adds attached.

My concern is the Rangers would view Kassian as a value add.

As the most anti Puljujarvi guy here, you've got my vote.

Why is every trade proposal here with Edmonton? f*** that organization, after firing their last schmuck I don't see us getting some rip off return.

I just don't see the appeal there.

Think EDM is a lame duck, not doing anything before they get a GM. Everything I heard from their owners make it sound like they are the root for EDMs struggles. They are ruining their kids, still they are holding on to them because they believe they are their future. Childish, like a poster at the trade board running a NHL team.

If I'm the Avalanche, I'm praying OTT pick is #1 and grab Hughes as a cheap 1b center. That is their biggest hole outside defence.

Plan b, is if it is a # 2pick, trade down to 3-7 and grab a center there and fill D with their pick.

Plan c...take the center wherever that OTT pick lands 3-10.

The top 10 has quite a few Centers and they need one.

Unless someone offers a center they absolutely covet, that Ott pick has so many possibilities to fill that slot in a major way, maybe even kill 2 birds with one stone.

Landing that OTT pick is a waste of brain energy.

Talbot puljujarvi and kassian for Vesey and Namestnikov.

Sure. Edmonton adds a pick in 2020. Let me continue down that road.

Hayes then goes to Calgary for a 1st (2019 or 2020) and a young defenseman. Maybe NYR will add something small. Some conditional add if the Flames resign him/go to SCF.

Zucc to Dallas. Or San Jose. Or The Peg. For a 1st. If they want to dump a bad contract expiring 2020 at the latest, we acquire a prospect (Potential depending on the $$ involved)

McQuaid to Toronto. For a Horton Not named Tim, a B prospect and a 3rd.

Yeah maybe. Don’t think they are trading that pick.

But like someone said even if Ottawa is 31 overall odds are that the pick is 4th not 1-3. And how fast is any of those centers not named Hughes helping Colorado? The 2017 draft is a good example — it’s 2019 now, how many of those centers are solid 2nd line centers in the NHL right now? It’s gonna take a while untill the Cody Glass, Lias Andersson and co get there. Nolan Patrick. When is he pick helping Colorado? 2022?

But I recon that they may just wait out the lottery and then deal the pick of whomever they draft for a player later on.

I would want more for Vesey and Nams. They are better players than Kassian by far and Pujuj is a project still. We already have Buch playing the “project” role. Talbot does nothing for us in terms of value.

I can understand the lack of appeal for Puljujarvi, but I don't see a 4th overall, 1st line player there. I see potential for a good 2nd line scorer who can develop in a place where he isn't constantly under the "we wasted a 4th overall pick on you" scrutiny.

Exactly the kind of low risk, high reward move a rebuilding team should make.

Joe sakic said the avalanche werent moving their 2 first rounders this year, or any of their top prospects. Just minor moves for them.

Boyle got a 2nd maybe a 2nd for McQuaid?

I don’t disagree with you. I wouldn’t make that trade either.

This whole discussion started with the original offer of Hayes+Zucc+2nd+B prospect. If we had that pick, would you accept that? I wouldn’t. I’d be looking for something closer to Zbad+Krieder. Basically I’m saying I’d need an offer that I couldn’t say no to, to move that pick. That’s all.

I’m really not even trying to argue this. We’ve been pretty much on the same page throughout he discussion.

There is no offer that the Rangers should make for the Ottawa pick, until we know where it lands. The cost would be sky high, there is no guarantee it is in the top 3 and it would be a mistake that sets this franchise back 5 years.
