Leafs fans on twitter are hilarious. Thinking they could dump the Zaitsev contract on us in a Kreider deal but wouldn't want to give up anything of value. Talking about Zaitsev, Connor Brown and a 2nd. Literally laugh out loud funny.

Oh let's get that high end player and give them a bunch of garbage in return! Fair deal, right?

It's loony season.
I'm not going to mock them. We have fans that do the exact same thing.

Brooks:

"Pending free-agent defenseman Adam McQuaid has drawn interest, as has Vladislav Namestnikov. Both could be of use to Tampa Bay. Which begs this question: Would it be better for the Rangers, who will get the Lightning’s first-round pick if Tampa Bay wins the Cup, to funnel depth pieces to Tampa, even if the return is somewhat less than Gorton could get from, say, Boston or Toronto or the Islanders?

My answer is, yes."

Insanity.

The one thing in the Brooks article that stood out to me was the hangup on the years for Hayes. Something seems off. If they really want to keep him, are they going to let an extra year hold the deal up? Is Gorton that worried about 6 years from now opposed to 5? I'm not sure if it's posturing or whatever. Zucc I can see the hesitation on term but not Hayes if he's a player they want to keep.
A year is a long time. Fall. Winter. Spring. Summer.

If the Rangers sit Hayes, Zucc, and McQuaid, people have to take their spots in the lineup. They have 23 players up and Howden is hurt. They can't sit 3 guys out of the lineup because there's nobody to fill in.

Howden can go on IR if he can't play.

And obviously they can sit McQuaid and still play six D. Maybe seven, given that Pionk apparently skated in a regular jersey at practice this morning.

Friedman mentioned Nashville wants to get Duchene with an extension on the table, he also said they’d be interested in Hayes if they didn’t get Duchene, connecting some dots, the Rangers found out what Hayes wants on an extension. If Nashville misses out on Duchene, most of the legwork is done already for Hayes now

Yeah, this was about the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Who knows, but it sure wouldn't be a first added to Nylander.

I also don't understand the hate for Nylander. Of course he's not getting huge minutes. They have Matthews and Tavares. Z-Bad would be getting something like 12-15 mins a night there at C.

When people talk about our fans overrating our own players, they're really not kidding.

I like Nylander just fine, he is pretty much exactly the type of player I hope the Rangers are drafting.

I think the dislike is two part, he held out and some see that as bad, and pretty much anyone who misses any amount of time ends up having a tough time getting up to speed.

Why he held out, maybe it was not just him as the Leafs do get a lower cap hit out of it by paying him so much this year, also would assume he did not want to sign something that made him an instant trade candidate, I'd say that was at least somewhat accomplished due to the lower cap hit going forward.

Kind of off topic, but based on his track record since he got hired and the situation he’s in I think Paul Fenton has a huge chance to be the new Chiarelli
