I didn't value McDonagh as high as the Rangers did either. Let's face it, his last couple of years here were exactly what he is in Tampa Bay - a 2nd pairing defenseman

Not really. Nash returned almost as much as McD. There are just some dum dums out there, and we should do our best to exploit them.

See Yakupov was one guy that I never liked. He was too small for his playing style to translate to the NHL. But of course I've been wrong before too. Its not an exact science.

I remember wanting Mark McNeil over JT Miller. Jordan Schroeder over Chris Kreider.

Hits and misses

I was a big fan of McNeil but not over Miller. With Yakupov, it came down to speed. He wasn't fast enough to play that type of game in the NHL. It worked for him in juniors, but just not at the NHL. He didn't have that separation gear.

Lots of people wanted Jordan Schroeder, he was a wunderkind at 16. Kessel-like.
