No, that's not possible. If he "retires" and comes back, he can only come back as a free agent if all teams approve. And even then, I doubt the NHL allows him to just be a free agent. There will be potentially some sort of re-entry waiver process.
I don’t know why he just doesn’t get the surgery he was and have the Sabres void the contract.
Yea he’s leaving 50 mill on the table, but at a 25 year old UFA?? Teams would sign him 30-40 mill no problem. Even in this financial climate

The Eichel thread on the main board is even more of a disaster than it has been previously, somehow

There are some Buffalo fans in the full blown psychosis stage of denial, whichever stage that is
Haha, so were at this stage at the off season.

Yum, although I think I prefer Laphroaig. Both are great though!
value-wise Ardbeg and Laph hold way better than Lagavulin. Overrated af imo

Sabers wont void the contract. That requires both parties to agree. And the sabers cant risk losing him for absolutely no return.
I dont know the CBA well enough to answer but if Eichel ignores the sabers, and gets the surgery, can the sabers petition for eichel to be suspended indefinitely for the length of his contact? Because if the only recourse is to void his contract, that actually would be a win-win for eichel. Get the surgery (pay for it himself as well as the rehab) and then become a UFA and potentially make even more than the 10m per.

I sold off my whiskey collection this spring. Some very nice stuff. We are talking Springbank’s, 35 year old Port Ellen’s , lots of vintage Speysides and some rare Smokey Islay stuff. Now selling off my entire rum collection- which was/is even nicer than the whiskeys. I figure that today is as good a time as any to cash in. Time will tell

What are the names the Sabres want? Is Lundkvist/Kravtsov the hold up? or are they asking for Kakko, Fox, Laf etc..

I thought I read somewhere that you can't do conditional picks anymore. Is that a thing? Because if it's not, a base trade of something like Strome, Chytil/Kravtsov, Jones with a bunch of conditional picks. Based on health, GP, production, team success etc.

You can do condition picks, with the exception of on the basis of re-signing a player.
My guess is that they want Chytil + kratsov + Lundkvist + unconditional 1st.
Buffalo needs to win this trade to have an semblance of a franchise going forward, and the GM is in a bad spot because if/when Eichel gets this surgery, if he finishes the year on buffalo the clock ticks for his NTC.

Yep...Barron seems Hartford bound which is probably fine, get him minutes and ready for a callup. Opportunities will present themselves.

I'm positive I heard from some beat writer that the Rangers have some kind of rookie camp planned before training camp but not sure if they're going to do a full tournament
I seem to recall reading on my Facebook page that Gallant was heading back to the Big Apple on the 12th of August....so maybe there is something planned for the rookies ? Maybe it was the 12th of Sept....my old memory is not what it once was . LOL...but I do remember the 12th...

Lagavulin is great as well. Lagavulin, Laphroaig and Ardbeg and the 3 I usually come back to. I haven't had Lagavulin in a while though, I might pick up a bottle on my way home from work today.

A friend of mine had the Nick Offerman special edition 8 yr old, it was actually pretty good. Not as good as the regular but it was legit, usually celebrity editions of stuff aren't really any good but this was actually good.

Ohhh I might have to pick this up.
I havent had the Offerman Edition, but im keeping my eyes open.

I have a bottle of Ardbegs Uigeadail and its damn good!

Due to costs though, ive been mostly a bourbon guy though. Scotch can get pretty pricey, pretty easily.

Still an Eichel discussion? Didn't Drury come out and say they pretty much aren't interested?

I hope the Eichel boat has sailed and will not return unless it's for a steal.
Drury absolutely didn't come out and say anything about Eichel. Brooks mentioned it, even though he's been writing articles on Eichel anyway.

The point total in itself is meaningless of course. But I like the fact that he is getting involved and playing that style where he sees no limits.

Honestly, people that are somewhat divided on K’Andre after his rookie year should seriously reconsider. It took Vic Hedman almost 5 years to establish himself.
View attachment 461397

Hedman was just scoring a point every third game and coughing up pucks, missing defensive assignments and what not. I remember reading so many posts saying more or less ‘Hedman is so overrated, he is going to bust’ several years into his NHL career.

Quinn certainly didn’t handcuff his Ds and obviously encouraged them to take risks. That was great. But we were a mess defensively for long stretches and hardly provided these guys with a lot of support. It wasn’t particularly easy to play D for us. That is just my point.

I definitely think that Miller has all the potential to become a Norris trophy winning D. Heck I would even say that he is on track to get up there in the top 5-10 in the league. I think that is a perfectly reasonable statement. But like Hedman, he — must — be afforded those 3-4 years to grow and settle into the league.

I’ve seen a lot of frankly ridiculous takes on Miller. So many continue to not remember that he switched from forward to defense when he was 14/15 years old. He is a work in progress and still raw in a lot of ways and there are things he has to clean up……but still first team rookie D for the entire NHL last year. He’s going to be really good. Norris trophy? I don’t know about that—the offense will really have to come. Two guys he kind of reminds me of—Larry Robinson and Rod Langway.

Watched each one of those and Hajek was out there for about 7 of them. Either him, Bitteto or Johnson. It's going to be so much better than none of them will really play for this team.

Yeah, that 3rd pairing with two LHS on it was a total mess.

Yeah, Drury has gone around telling agents that he is surprised that there is so much talk about NYR and Eichel since we never really been interested in him.

I’m trading for The Breadman in fantasy. Is there any concern with Putin or nagging injuries before I pull the trigger?

Lord Farquaad broke both his legs off, and subjected him to some childish taunting, yet he seems to have made a fairy tale like recovery.

Enjoy the ride, but what are you giving up?

There’s A LOT of nuances, but it’s a keeper league and the guy only has 1 year left of Panarin. So Ehlers (has 4 years of keeper potential) and a 2nd round pick. The only thing is I can reset a two keepers because I own first and second overall. So I can have him for 4 years.

Trade for Panarin.

He's fine and Putin is afraid of him.

Interesting, great deal for you if so. Coming from a guy who just off-loaded Kamara in a dynasty league for Metcalf, the 1.04, 2.09, 3.04, and his first next year.
