Hell, let's go for something truly crazy if we're talking about a fantasy scenario in which we trade Kreider, acquire picks, and keep said all our picks:

Let's win the lottery, take either Lafreniere or Byfield with the first or second pick, while having the Kreider pick rise all the way 16 and have a guy like Holloway slip.

Get another potentially elite impact player on offense (Lafrenier/Byfield). and get a guy with growth potential who has a chance to be crucial offensive contributer, but also a prospect we can live with as "only" a support player who fits our team like a glove (Holloway).

Swap in Lafreniere for Kreider, or trade Strome, slide Chytil up to the second line, and put Byfield in Chytil's third line role.

Trade Buch for a player or players who bring another dynamic to the team, use our depth to shore up other areas. Assuming Hank stays, trade Georgiev to improve other areas of the team as well.

Hell, if I'm going to fantasy book, I'm going to book with one of the two top players from this draft and have all the bounces go our way.
Aw yeah...:banana::devdance::pickle:

That is what I'm talking about!

Although I think I'd be happy just to see them draft like two or three relatively high potential forward prospects who balance out the plethora of D prospects they have. I mean beyond Kravtsov, there is only like Pajuniemi, Barron, Henriksson, Ronning? Not sure what their potential really is.

I mean, all things being equal, I still don't love that number for Trouba. But under the salary cap I can live with an extra one or two million added to a player who fills an otherwise gaping hole in the roster--much like Panarin at 11.6 (which I'm on record as having no problems with at the time of the signing ;)).

Even if Trouba's number is a little high at this point, which I don't necessarily think it is, it will fall into place as other defenseman sign contracts in the next two or three years.

Also, it’s ludicrously easy to cherry-pick individual frames from a TV broadcast of a game to fit just about ANY narrative.

Hell, Ed’s boy, ADA, would fare significantly worse in such an exercise, I’d wager...
He started several feet ahead of Mika & Buch, you have to either be a very slow skater or not trying to have got blown by them like that in the first place. And he wasn’t even in deep, there were 2 times in one game recently where Buch beat him back as well and Trouba was starting at the blueline, Buch at the top of the circle. And I’d wager you would never find something like this with ADA, I’ve seen him make bad pinches but he’s flying back like McDavid every time lol

There is a thing called momentum. When you make a bad pinch your momentum is heading in the opposite direction. Not surprising that others are going to beat him back.

And there it is another miss by Gorton to improve the depth.

Getting laughably concerning that no action is being taken with this terrible 4th line depth.

I don't think people realize how terrible Ritchie has been. He's a marginal improvement on Haley at best and a marginal improvement isn't worth forfeiting a SPC slot.
I highly, highly disagree he is a “marginal” improvement of Punching Bag Haley and Pylon Smith. Highly doubt it.

Who are we waiting for to hit waivers thats worth claiming? McDavid? Jesus.

I don’t particularly care about Ritchie but it seems to me the Rangers are trying to keep contract spots open

Yeah, I'm not sure there's much of desire to add players who aren't really that much different some of the other options they have.

My interest in Ritchie is strictly due to my amusement with the Rangers connection to the 2011 draft.

There's a reason NO team tried. Would've been a lateral move or slight improvement

Someone who isn't just marginally better than Haley or Smith. Saying you doubt that he is a marginal improvement leads me to believe you haven't really seen much of Ritchie and are making an assumption. He would go from 4th line savior to whipping boy faster than a Marek Malik and Tanner Glass hybrid.

Then we can agree to disagree, which is totally fine because I think he's a waste of both of our time, lol.

I don't think this team is looking to the waiver wire to solve any problems. We have enough waiver fodder as it is.

Beleskey and Nieves would each also be improvements over Haley and Smith.

We could improve the 4th line from within the organization, we just haven't. Smith had 5 good games and has been a trash heap since. Same as last year. Doesn't have the work ethic of a professional athlete.

Then resign Kreider as a UFA during the summer! ;)
