Trade Strome Buchy and a Staal buyout and you can keep Kreider and Fast and Tony although he’s not going anywhere

Strome is a good player but he’s not a 70 pt guy without Panarin at the same time Chytil should be getting bigger mins next year he’s a horse. Next to Panarin he’d explode. Strome blocks him.

CK Mika Kakko
Panarin Chytil Fast
Lemieux Howden Kravtsov

coaches believe in Howden they’ll need to find him top 9 ice too.

honestly I'd be heartbroken but also over the moon if Hank went to the Avs.

his best chance of winning a cup.......ever. I want nothing more than that.

Hank may consider waiving .. I think you hold onto all 3 till the deadline in case that is an option

obviously it depends on how much $$ he wants but I think people need to stop saying strome is only good with panarin like its this big negative. if you want to clear a spot for Chytil thats different. but not everyone can play with a guy like panarin and think the game at his level...and the 'he's only good with panarin' is only an issue if he's not with panarin. so that's why another team shouldn't overpay for him, but here he's gonna still be playing with panarin. for the right cap hit, I'd look at strome on RW which pushes fast down the depth charts.

JG holds on b/c teams lowball him on AG thinking he will feel the pressure of a potential Shesk move back to Russia, not b/c of the .0001% chance Hank is willing to waive his NMC for 1 or 2 teams.

This entire situation comes down to Shesh & his agents willingness to continue to play ball. If he is willing to play out the rest of the season in Hartford that removes an enormous amount of pressure from JD/JG to move AG now.

You sit Hank until he gets frustrated and asks for trade. It over Hank. Get on with your career. The rangers will move you to cup contender. Give it one more shot and then go play in Sweden in two years. Thanks for all you have done for us!

I think we would get much more out of trading Georgiev for an NHL ready now forward than what we would get for Hank, even at 50% retained.

Georgiev holds way more value for a variety of factors that include his age, performance, and contract/control status.

I would rather we give the keys to Igor, have Hank backup, and let Huska continue to develop. And/or Ty Wall push forward too.

Of course this is all contingent on a team trading what we deem acceptable for Georgiev, which by the day i think those odds are increasing. A team will start to panic knowing the deadline is looming and the uncertainty of their goaltending grows.

I mean I literally prefaced it by saying Strome is a good player and I want to clear a spot for Chytil lol.

But I think Chytil is a better player by far and with Panarin can be that much better and do what Strome is doing and then some on both sides of the puck. If we didn’t have Chytil chomping at the bit behind him I wouldn’t move Strome. But I think Kreider is more valuable a puzzle piece. We’re literally just two days ago talking about having to be a heavier team. Losing Kreider does not help us there at all.

Hank very well could be saying to himself look I can’t be a back up goalie doesn’t work for me. And that’s his immediate and long term future thru next year and beyond if he chooses to keep playing. So maybe @Edge is right and he sees the writing on the wall here.

Rangers can easily pay him that lost salary as an advisor to the president or whatever over a few years. He wouldn’t lose a dime.

Henrik isn’t waiving his NMC

He’s retiring as a Ranger
I happen to agree. He goes nowhere. Now, does he read the tea leaves and decided to hang it up? Maybe. I do not see it, but maybe. Let's put it this way, I believe that Henke's decision about his career (proving that he shared it with management) after this year may be telling if Georgiev is traded. Or not. Or maybe I am simply wrong on all counts.

If JD and Gorton went to Hank and said look we're planning on giving all the starts to Georgiev and Shestyorkin going forward cap be damned, I really wonder if Hank would call their bluff and stick around until the end of next season.
That is not going to be the case as I believe management wants Shesterkin to play in the AHL All Star game and in the AHL playoffs.

And the question about playing next year will be asked before they make any potential move. I do not envision a scenario where they make a move if Lundqvist is unsure, or leaning toward retirement.

Why would Kreider ever accept that? He's already going to take a huge discount tax-wise just to play in NYC. Players almost never take discounts like that, especially when we're talking about middling numbers (the difference between 11 and 12 million is far different than that of 6 versus 7).
It might be important for him to continue to play for the only franchise he has ever played for and to be a leader of the team on the other side of the rebuild. It might be important to him to help lead the franchise back into prominence. Then again, it might not. He is a Boston boy. He has seen how New England players take less to stay with the franchise. Then again, like most, he may want to get every last dollar.

There is absolutely no guarantee that Chytil can do with Panarin what Strome is doing with Panarin.

And that was the point that I mentioned in that it MIGHT be telling regarding Henke's future if Georgiev is traded or not.
