ADA sits for Lindgren... I'm not a fan of it but i could see it

What I don’t get is that Lindgren hasn’t outperformed other D in Hartford. If I were Gilmour or Bigras I’d be pretty ticked off about this call up.

Yeah I don't Lindgren coming up means anything is happening. Smith is garbage and needs to go back to the press box and with Claesson out someone has to step in there who isn't a righty.

Would anyone consider:

Darnell Nurse + Jesse Puljujaarvi + pick for Kreider

Salaries would come out pretty close to even. Perhaps the Rangers take on Kassian as well to give Edmonton some cap relief. What would a team like Colorado trade for someone like Nurse? Or a team like Dallas?

Nurse + Puljujaarvi + Kassian + EDM 1st (lottery protected) for Kreider + DeAngelo

Nurse + Vesey for Jost + COL 1st + COL 2nd

I would for sure. And I am definitely with you in swinging Nurse to another team if we get him, you can just find cheaper options at LD from my POV.

If we trade Kreider, Puljujärvi must be coming here. No low potential kid like Yamamoto or other B/C-type of assets. Someone with real upside. No more LDs or even Howden types (this is not a knock on Howden). But we need scoring potential and we need RHS.

Brickley had just played three seasons with Michael Paliotta with U of Vermont right before we signed the latter to an AHL contract. I’m sure we scouted him. Both are pending UFAs and we probably had made our mind up about Schneider. Brickley a couple years younger.

In regards to the Edmonton stuff, I'm not sure there's a package there I like for Kreider. Some of our lesser pieces, sure, but I'd want a lot of assurances if they were going to protect the 1st round pick this year. Like top-5 protection but we get their 2nd this year and their unprotected 1st next year. Idk what they could realistically add on top of that pick which would get me excited. Yamamoto is just okay, Puljujarvi isn't a centerpiece of a deal, and they're not moving Bouchard. Nurse is just now starting to find that next level in his game so why would they trade him? It's amazing how much currency that team has spent with so little to show for it.

I'd gladly take Talbot back in a deal and flip him to Philly or something.

Moving Talbot easier said than done. His performance has plummeted recently, and he’d be a very expensive backup.

I can't wait until we get rid of some of these spare D's so we can field a consistent lineup on a day to day basis and figure out what the hell we have.

This merry-go-round is getting f***ing old. Move Smith. Trade McQuaid. Buyout Staal (if only so I don't have to hear Sam and Joe tell me how "good" he's been this season) and roll the kids out there. Enough of this nonsense already.

You wonder if Lindgren is getting a look to make a decision on another d. If you are sure the kid can handle NHL minutes, you get some confidence to move someone else. As much some want to trade them all, the brass won't ice a team of unproven kids.

I have posted this before but my proposal is:
Rangers get:
Edmonton 1st
Puljujarvi
Some dead salary

Edmonton gets:
Zucc
Buchnevich
Tampa Bay conditional pick (1st round if they win the cup, 2nd round otherwise)

My suggestion from the main forum. Thoughts?

I dont like sending the 1st back.

It's more likely a 2nd, but I get it. I think that's the way to sell Edmonton on giving up their pick though. Hey look, you can still get a 1st out of this!

Getting a potential lottery pick doesnt come easy, and to get one without giving up anything premium for our side (depends on how you view Zucc I guess) is worth it to me to risk it.

My suggestion from the main forum. Thoughts?

I don’t really see the gain for either team.

Zucc is a UFA with almost zero chance of resigning.

Assuming the Oilers were looking for a playoff run, that would make the pick a later first.

I’m not terribly interested in an underachieving former high draft pick being as big of an asset in the trade either. We’re paying a premium on an asset that doesn’t have that kind of value at this point.

For me the premium is on the Edmonton pick. Potential lottery picks dont come easy. I know by trading with them it makes it less likely to be a lottery pick but I think its worth the risk.

Personally I also see Buch as a declining asset so I am happy to use him to grease the wheels a bit.

For Edmonton, I think the obvious value is they get not one, but two upgrades at wing. One of which is controlled past the season so its not quite an all or nothing move for them.

I don't see any reason to send that Tampa pick their way if we're eating contracts.

I know everyone assumes the Oilers pick will be a lottery pick, but say they make the playoffs after that deal; which certainly isn't that far fetched with improved secondary scoring and a bunch of teams ahead of them on major slides. What does the deal look like then? The 16th pick, a struggling prospect, and a couple cap dumps. The 16th pick is probably on the sweeter side for a Zucc return, but the gap between Buch and Puljujarvi is pretty big right now even with Buch struggling. Then on top of that we give up a possible 1st round pick just to eat contracts? Doesn't really work.

I wouldn't hate an Edmonton "quantity trade" for Kreider. If they're in a spot where they feel like they can give us a ton of stuff for him because they like him and they want him to play next to McDavid for the next 5-10 years, that's fine. Yamamoto, Puljujarvi, their first with protection, cap dump, maybe something else. I'd do it.

The Rangers won't be good within his current contract. His next deal will be tricky, what is he like if he loses a step? Obviously a ridiculous athlete but who knows.

Take out our Pick, and take back Spooner from them as the salary, then flip Spooner to the 'canes as an offensive reclamation project for whatever mid-level pick they are willing to offer.

Rangers get:
Edmonton 1st
Puljujarvi
Spooner

Edmonton gets:
Zucc
Buchnevich

Then Spooner to Carolina for like a 4th.

It's fun to speculate, especially with a GM with an awful track record, but I doubt Edmonton is going to risk an unprotected first on a guy like Kreider who could walk for nothing after next season. They probably want a winger with some term on the deal or who is cost controlled. We don't have one to give up aside from Buchnevich.

Unless they're throwing Bouchard and an unprotected 1st on the table they don't have the base for a Zibby package either.
