If we’re giving up Mika in the deal, hopefully we keep our first rounder, cause the chance for implosion could be high. Especially if Eichel’s rehab is half a season or more.
Unless we’re bringing in someone else on the short term. But that allows the rangers to run
Strome/ panarin known chemistry
And gives chytil a good long look with a lot of important minutes.
How well chytil plays in that stretch would be very important.
That time period will ultimately decide who they keep as a long term 2C chytil or strome.

I’m not as heart broken as everyone else because I think Eichel coming here is not a matter of if but when. And I do think he can be an excellent add after he returns from surgery and heals up.
I just don’t want drury to pay a ridiculous cost

yeah but the sabres have no reason to just finally cave and take the best offer....so if teams aren't going to give up 4 quality assets that to me says that this isn't getting resolved anytime soon.

I know the owners have had many moments of total insanity, but for the life of me, I just don't see any owner giving up assets and taking on a player before that player has had the surgery he needs.

The three way trade has always made some sense - Minnesota, Calgary, Vegas, whoever else like that is in the Eichel talks, if they know they can get an extension done - but I don't think Mika will play a game for that awful Sabres team. It's not like they can say it, but they're going for Shane Wright.

Odds are if Zibby waives off on any trade, his agent would have likely worked out an extension with his new team, whether it’s Vegas, Minn, Calgary, etc whoever.
Similar to when stone was dealt from Ottawa and Vegas announced his new deal almost immediately. Zibby will never play a game for the sabres.
If things get really crazy and they basically get Eichel for Zibby and not much else, do the rangers then go after Larkin or Dvorak as well??? Total mind blower.

If he's truly going on vacation, what better way to ensure you get retweets, mentions and clicks while you're not working than to throw out an Eichel rumor on your way out the door? If there is ANYthing behind this, IMO, it's more likely that Drury is trying to get Mika's camp to come down on their demands for an extension, so they leak a little noise that he could be moved and tell him it's because his asking price is too high.

But if he wants to play in NY beyond this year, which it seems like he's very comfy and content with his NY lifestyle, it's still kind of leverage. Come down in your ask or we're going to explore moving you and come back and ask you to waive your NMC when we find the right deal. I don't know. Just trying to look at other angles. If it could conceivably give Zib pause about how much he wants to stay in NY vs explore the open market, then making it sound like they're taking feelers on his value could still impact negotiations? Maybe?
