I went into last season thinking Thomas would be top 10. The more I watched him, the worse it got. What was worse is he was consistently talked up nearly every game. I didn't see it by the end of the season.

Yeah the little I’ve seen of him has shown me why he fell. Wasn’t impressed. I think he can be a decent middle-6 forward.

It’s his weak skating that scares me the most.

See I don’t see his skating as a glaring weakness, I think it’s alright and can be improved. Andersson’s skating was a glaring weakness.

Howden to me lacks the offensive creativity and a good set of hands to be a top-6 center. His shot looks decent and his hockey sense is great, but I just don’t see the creativity with the puck that will ever make him at any point in his career a legitimate 2nd line center and I think he has a snowball’s chance in hell of being a 1st line center.

I wanna see him build up some more muscle and then see what he becomes.

I’m keeping Kreider and Zib. If either are dealt, scorch the earth. Everyone over 24 can GTFO. Buyout the stiffs and run an AAAA squad for a few seasons. I don’t think it’ll happen but if even one of the two are gone, burn it all down.

I keep reading mixed reactions from what Zucc can bring back in a trade. I can’t gauge what he really is worth. Some say a first and a good prospect. Others seem to think he is worth a third and not much more. What do you guys honestly think he can fetch if he is traded?

I think there is more to Howden that will come out as he gets more experience in the league. I still see his ceiling as a good #2 center but I think he ends up being one of those depth centers you need on your team to go deep in the playoffs. Anchor a solid 3rd line.

I believe the Flames are very interested in Zucc...

Yep Eklund just said so on Twitter.

Don’t believe anything he writes about the Rangers.

I would think a good package would be Bennett and a 2nd pick. Too bad they traded Fox otherwise I would have tried for him in the package.

What a nightmare Eklund reporting Ranger news and the Jets hiring Gase.

If they trade Zucc it’s gonna be Leetch/Graves 2.0. I’m all in on the rebuild but if he’s not bringing back a 1st I’m not interested. Still sour they traded Dubi.

Yes this is what thinking with your emotions looks like.

I was just about to say, if the flames want him, a time machine and Fox are the return.

Not sure how much to put into it, but given all the talk- if tarasenko is on the market, are we in? Would come at about half the term as Panarin, and at a slightly lower number. Same age as Panarin, but a lot bigger.

We don't want Panarin unless he's free at UFA. At no point are we in a position to trade any of our current assets for a big time pick up at the deadline.

I’m not into Panarin at all if it’s going to be 8x8 or anything close to that.

Zuccarello has had a great career here but moving him is closer to trading McDonagh or Callahan than Leetch or Graves. it's an emotional loss but not a retired number.

This new thread. First 3 pages. Chicken little’s everywhere. It’s amazing. Absolutely amazing. Like anyone expected anything different. Even Quinn losing the room momentarily as reality sets in. All of this inevitable and I’m sure foreseen by management. Carp had been trying to warn people all summer, whys that? Bc the FO knew this season was gonna be as long and grueling and painful as last year if not more, bc by this deadline, more good vet players would be traded and the team would be even more inexperienced and younger. New coach, young team, guys knowing they are out the door VS new coach with a veteran or at least somewhat established team.

What in the world did you guys expect. Should they have been sitting Shattenkirk and smith and everyone all season, how many people would have been killing them for not trying to build trade value or see if they had any.

You guys just want to complain bc that’s all we can do. That’s why so many posters said ‘the same people dying for a rebuild will be at wits end by mid-season of year 1’.

Happened

2 2nds+decent prospect

Is there any coach in the league who can keep a team engaged when they're clearly out of the playoffs? I doubt it. These guys are human, and it's a hard sport. They're not going to put their money-maker on the line for moral victories, and who would blame them.
