Doubtful.Gorton wont move him in division and i doubt Pitt would want to help us out in any way.
I don’t think Gorts cares where Kreider goes as a rental. Next season Kreider goes wherever he wants. I do agree The Rangers probably would like to avoid playing against Kreider in-division for the next 6 or 7 seasons. But The Rangers probably don’t have much of a say in that.

Posted the below on the main boards in one of the Leafs threads, some Leafs fans think it was fair. Goes with my above post about buying out Staal and Smith.

Skjei ($5.25MM x 4 years), Kravstov ($950k ELC x 2 years), Georgiev ($800K RFA) for Nylander ($7MM x 4 years) and Kapanen ($3.2MM x 2 years)

I took out the offered 2nd round pick coming from the Leafs in the original proposal.

Cap to Leafs: $6.25MM plus Georgiev new contract (probably $3-4MM) so $9.25-$10.25MM.

Cap to Rangers: $10.2MM. Both Staal and Smith should get bought out this offseason
I would hold Kravtsov until his value goes back up. I’m sure the Rangers could substitute in someone else. Maybe even Buchnevich and get a bit more back. Then re-sign CK ;)

He absolutely should care-rental or not,he needs to get the best return possible if hes serious about this rebuild,or its possibly his ass on the line.

Considering he'd probably show up for only 2-3 of those games, I'd be fine with it.

Personally I believe we have to keep some guys, we cant keep moving guys for picks or we will never be ready to contend because by the time supporting players are ready guys like Kakko and Chytil are gonna need contracts. If I'm Gorton I tell Kreider, Strome, and DeAngelo that if they all wanna be in NY that they are gonna have to sign a deal before the deadline and its gonna have to be team friendly. If they dont then explore moving them. For me a good deal for everyone is Kreider 5×5.5, Tony 5x4, and Strome 5x5. It's about time we use the lure of NY life to benefit our contracts. Kreider definately doesnt wanna leave NY, Strome and DeAngelo finally found a spot they fit in. To me none of them wanna leave. I realize Kreider could get 1-1.5 more than that on the market, probably the same for Strome and DeAngelo but to me theres value in playing in NY compared to Winnipeg or Arizona

Halfway through year 1 of the contract, has been arguably our best defenseman in all aspects of the game stabilizing the right side, but hey “newsflash” Trouba wasn’t worth signing...

Cant make this stuff up....
I agree. Trouba has been great. And perfect for this team. Just what we needed.

To be honest, I still think Kravy has a hood chance at becoming a really really good player for us. My opinion of him hasn’t changed from this summer.

Kravy kept growing past his draft year. It’s not unusual that kids does that when you train really hard. The training holds back your growth and then all of a sudden everything comes at once when you get to rest during the summer. My impression is that Kravy’s motor and forechecking game actually was better 6 months before him being drafted than it is now 18 months after his draft. It’s sounds a bit unlikely, but that is my impression.

In 3-4 years if things go well he could become a really dominating player.

Evan Rodrigues has requested a trade from Buffalo. Played 2 years under DQ at BU.

He should be a good fit with Danny OReagan in the AHL... ;)

Seriously though, it’s too bad Alex Nyls was traded and fetched the return he did. He would have been a good target for Lias.

The Rangers have 9-10 players I can see playing important roles on a Stanley Cup contender. They need to add at least 4-5 more.

Some of this will come from emerging youth. Some hopefully will come in a trade or two from some of our excess in certain positions. And there will be 1-2 strategic free agent signings.

The salary cap will be tight next year but beyond that things loosen up allowing room to move.

My primary concern right now is seeing the Rangers keeping those 9-10 players in house and if they absolutely have to move one of them, getting equivalent hockey talent back.

Who would you say those players are?

Zbad
Panarin
Kakko
Fox
ADA
Trouba
Chytil
One of Shesh or Georgiev

Who else would you list? Strome? Lindgren? Kravstov?

Kreider and Lindgren for starters. I didn’t consider Kravtsov because I think of him as emerging youth. Strome good possibility too.

What's your threshold when it comes to term/AAV for Kreider in order for it to make sense organizationally? And is that term/AAV realistic for Kreider to actually accept it?

That’s my point. If Pittsburgh or the Devils or the Isles make the best offer, he’ll take it. Doesn’t matter if it’s a division rival.

Rodriguez had pretty good numbers and underlying metrics last year

Not so much this year

He’d be a very good upgrade for the 4th line depending on price

It's that additional 4-5 that's really going to be interesting to watch. I don't think we have all of them in-house, and my concerns about having the savings account to acquire them aside for a moment, I completely agree that trades are coming at some point.

It's that next phase, that's going to go a long way toward determining whether this a team that challenges for a spot in the upper echelon in a few years, or kind of hangs in the low 20s and hopes for a greater number of breaks to go its way.

Agreed. If panarin wasn’t here, the reality of where the rebuild is would be a little clearer. Not sure I could put an accurate number on how many victories he has accounted for. Five to ten less wins would change our perspective a bit.
