Not only would it be good for Kakko, it's a chance to get one of those picks back that the Rangers traded to Calgary in 2011 for Tim Erixon.....#ClaimGranlund

Granlund could be a great fit. I haven’t watched him this year, but he really fits the Strome mold. 27/scored in the past/pedigree as a high pick/versatile.

Resign, flip, or just let him walk if he works.

If not, toss him back on waivers or let him walk after the season.

It seems like a low risk / medium-high reward move to me.

Lol you rather move him and move on ? Need some bodies to expose in expansion so 2 years at 2 mil per isn’t bad
They have a knack of finding useless bodies to fill roster spots...I'm sure the draft won't be a problem.

Is there anything on Edmonton's list (other than McD) worth going after? They are in freefall once again, and really need to start making the playoffs while McD is in his prime.
Have to think they'd be interested in guys like Georgiev, Skjei, Buch and a guy like Fast to provide some leadership and defensive pressure

I doubt that they'd be looking for a rental Kreider who most likely walks at the end of the year, but Buch might be a good fit for them with some control left. Georgiev would be a nice addition as well.

The most realistic pieces coming back would be a 1st, although the Rangers could also likely try for one of their high end defensive prospects like Broberg or Bouchard. I'm not sure if they are considered flat untouchables or not.

So just for fun. Eklund throws out Georgiev for Kapanen would you do it ?

Not talking about Eklund just the deal if it was true.

Love Georgiev and Shesty combo for the future but would also like to get my hands on Kapanen.

you do that for sure w the goalie depth

Already finished taking down the light and I’m a little bored waiting for the game tonight.

Let’s go full blown fantasy world. Taking what was proposed on this web site and what you know who proposed could you imagine if Toronto and the Rangers completed a deal with all the players mentioned.

Rangers trade Georgiev/ Kreider/ Skjei
For
Nylander / Kapanen

Could work cap wise as the Rangers send out 10.8 million and receive 10.3.

Helps Toronto with their goalie issue. And their Defense. Kreider would fit great next to Matthews.

The Rangers well helps with the wing depth and both are signed long time unlike Kreider. Skjei not the worst lose. Shesty replaces Georgiev.

Leaving fantasy land now but that would be one hell of a blockbuster trade.

JD state of the union on pregame
Shesty deserves a shot
Coaches ecstatic about Vitaly since returning maybe some humble pie
If in playoffs it effects how they approach deadline
Excess defensemen could result in trade for a weakness like he did in Cbj with Seth Jones
Tanner Glass skated with Robertson in minors ......mentor
JD is perfect for this time in NYR history

PS don’t think JD like Al calling him ...big boy...a bit disrespectful to the President

Funny how he almost forgot about the deadline.

I don’t think a goalie and a couple defensemen would do anything for Toronto. They need a system. Nobody plays defense..everything is high risk..too many chances

No surprises here, but Andersson and Kreider both came up on the Sportsnet Headlines segment. Friedman said the Rangers are going to be patient with Lias and aren't just going to get rid of him because he wants out. Kreider is the name at the top of the list for most of the contending teams. Mentioned Colorado, Boston, St Louis, and Pittsburgh specifically. Also mentioned that Kreider isn't officially on the market yet and the decision may come down to the wire.
