This almost never happens though

It’s been pretty clear to me for a while Fast isn’t going anywhere. All that matters is if the contract will be bad or not

I agree he’s likely resigned and before this year ends ... it doesn’t happen often but has a few times where a guys dealt then goes back

Whoever overlays for Fast will be disappointed. He better not be resigned and traded. He is a guy that won't age well at all. Too injury prone

They guy won’t be on a crazy contract and imo he’s one of the better bottom six guys in the league. I could easily see them resigning him at fair value. He’s a reliable player for sure.

I don’t understand how everyone is so ready to part ways with Kravtsov in a Nylander deal. There’s no way I would move him until we see him in the NHL and give him some time to develop.

there is less than 0% chance he is moved. The video game trade simulation series marches on and the Atlantic Ocean sized space between “fans” and those who actually know hockey is increasing.

Nylander is 23 (younger than Buchnevich), and signed at a very reasonable contract for the entirely of his prime. You are flipping a coin that Kravtsov can become what Nylander has proven that he is. Skjei is a fungible asset. This is basically Skjei and a 1st for a first line winger who was made to player with Zibanejad. This is kind of a no brainer. As I said earlier, this isn’t requiring a 28 year old Rick Nash. Nylander is on the same schedule as the rest of the roster. It’s pricey but you have to give to get.

I don't know why anyone would want Fast to move along, he is the heartbeat of any line he is on, and is the lead by example player you want on the team. He is the exact player you want around during a rebuild
he is good on the 4th line or even 3rd line but he simply doesn’t have the offensive ability to contribute on a top line

Not all top 6 players have to score goals, some have to get the puck out of the corner. He hasnt looked out of place anywhere in our lineup, that's the best part of him is he can play anywhere from line one to line 4 and not hurt you. Ideally he is on the 3rd line but he doesn't hurt you if someone gets hurt and he needs to move up. I've actually felt has has complimented Panarin and Strome very well, ofcourse once Kakko gets going he wont be there.

One of the gems that's coming out of this season is the chemistry between Bread and Strome. That effectively gives you a top 6 unit if Zibs is on another line. While I agree that the top 6 needs guys that can create space, if you are icing a contender, you need all 6 guys capable of hitting more than 40 points.

In other words, there has to be production for the ice time that they get.

I'm a believer of having 3 lines that can create offense, and a more traditional sandpaper unit on the 4th line. That's what works in today's game. The Rangers are 3 roster players shot, and 4-5 pieces short overall from that happening.

I believe that that can get fixed in one off-season with some luck, and two without it. It's all about match-ups and sustained pressure.

All of the contenders have guys that play their roles effectively and consistently. The Rangers are short on that.

If you clean up the defensive woes, and you get the following production next year, then you have a real shot at contending:

LWer (20-30)-Zibs(35-35)-Kakko (30-30)
Bread (35-55)-Strome (20-30)-C/RWer(20-20)
VK(15-25)-Chytil(25-25)-Buch(20-25)
Lems(10-15)-Howdie(10-10)-C/RWer (5-15)

Not that everyone is going to hit those numbers, but have the potential to hit those numbers is what I would look for.

Anytime I hear this line I turn into Donald Duck and start throwing things. I don't understand it. Rangers probably have two more Cups in their history if they don't use that logic.
