We'll agree to disagree on Kravtsov motivation

I will be extra comfy leaning on ones history temperamental BS.

Lias has done nothing on the ice pro or minors to warrant any different treatment than he got.

Kravstov might still be in Russia if Gorton didn’t step in. Again, he left after 5 games. He had complaints about our coaching staff when he was interviewed. He even managed to take down his Rangers photos on his IG the second he left.

There was never a peep of dissatisfaction from Lias until the news broke out that he demanded a trade. And for what it’s worth, he still hasn’t taken his photos of him in Ranger gear despite being very active on social media.

I agree — let’s mutually disagree on this one.

It's not a good look but I think in Gropp's case, he knows it's over.

It's crazy that while the summer of 2021 is going to be "The Great Cap Relief" for the Ranges, next summer in terms of the 50 contract slot they can really start cutting some dead weight: Gropp, Crawley, Belesky, Leedhal, Fontaine, Nieves, and Lettieri all probably will not be back. They can start taking shots on other NCAA FAs and European projects with new scouting.

Fontaine I bet he will be like Ryan Graves not given a chance but makes it somewhere else. How does this keep happening? It is not like the depth is that good. Fontaine should have demanded a trade as well. I'm shocked he hasnt yet. Smith, Haley and McKegg on this team just proves our depth is not good, our prospects are not ready or they actually stink or the Rangers management is bad at evaluating talent. Most organizations would have Haley, Smith and McKegg in the AHL, unless they are here to help the tank

You criticize LA for demanding a trade but you agree Fontaine should have done the same..?

Wut?

Fontaine hasnt been given a look at all. Lias has and didnt take advantage and wasnt taking advantage of Hartford and asked for a trade. Big difference than not given any chance at all. Lias should have had the attitude like Chytil did. That is on Andersson.

Lias, as a younger player with less experience in NA, has almost doubled Fontaine’s career PPG in the AHL.

I get the Lias criticism. I don’t get why anyone in their right mind would think Fontaine deserves a shot in the NHL, or has reason to ask for a trade.

What has Fontaine done at all to have earned a look?

Hes barely an AHL'er, why would the Rangers waste a valuable roster spot on him, especially if he doesn't do anything in camp or during the season to warrant it?

Lias has gotten a fair chance in his 4 minutes a game on the 4th line, but Fontaine deserves more. What's this? Opposite day?

But his average ice time has been around 10 mins. I agree his development maybe hasn’t been ideal but the narrative that he has been “screwed” is not fair at all.
As usual, I’d say the truth is somewhere in between.

Lias has played 9:33/game. There are 9 players classified as rookies this year who have played less than that (min 10 GP and of various prospect levels) - Gustafsson/Luoto/Chalpik/Timashov/Gregor/Beaudin/Kamenev/Poehling/Verhaege. That's 3 second rounders and one first rounder.

19 rookies played less than that last year. Notable ones being A.J. Greer, Appleton, Kamenev, Lemieux, Frederic, and then Kyrou at 9:40.

It's hardly unprecedented usage and I don't see any of the other guys quitting. Even if he was the highest draft pick there so what? His production hasn't been better than many of them.

I remember the enthusiasm surrounding the signing of Jake Elmer. Fans immediately assume they have a shot at making the team.

It is a (well-intended) misconception amongst a lot of gamers.

Many younger fans have video game dynasty obsessions - they see any young player as having NHL upside...just create the player and watch him flourish into a 30-goal scorer as your team wins 4 cups. Easy.

If you can package Kreider with Georgiev for a young nhl F like Kapanen and say a 2nd you have to take that no?

call up Shestyorkin , Hank has one more year ... Huska and Wall are good prospects

Kreider+Georgiev for Kapanen+2nd? I would easily do that

I’m not sure who in this league would do anything between Smith, McKegg, and/or Haley.
Which is why they should have signed veteran depth at or close to the league minimum. Its inexcusable anyone has to play between Smith and Haley. McKegg has not been bad, has used his speed well. Plays hard. He is not a bad option for the 4th line. But the other two...Smith handles the puck like its a grenade. Haley...
