The Devils get a top 3 protected pick in June. They got a very good deal. That pick is better than any pick the Rangers got.

they didn’t get a top 3 pick. They got a pick that’s top 3 protected meaning if the yotes fall off a cliff and get a top 3 pick they don’t have to give it to NJ lol.

@Edge - regarding the teams who may now turn to CK (Colorado, STL, Florida), do you have any sense on their urgency to get a deal done sooner than later? Does JG have a preference?

Thanks as always.
There’s still Pageau sitting around. He will be ahead of Kreider because he’s actually producing.
Once he’s gone then Kreider value could pick up.

Bahl sucks. He’s got bust written all over him. No offensive ability. Doesn’t skate that well in stop and starts like Mcilrath and way to big. Noobody is that big anymore on defense. Guy can’t move. And the best part all that size and he’s softer than baby food

On reclamation project, of sorts, I wouldn’t be terribly against Gorton taking a shot on is Frederick Gauthier if Kreider is traded.

I think he is a bit better than he get credit for talent wise, and sometimes guys like that takes time to develop. The kid is darn massive.

He has become a good PKer for Toronto and is good on draws. But he can of course play wing too in more of a big body role. Think he would be an interesting guy to have in the mix. Get a bit of a fresh start in a different role. Wing on a 3rd line and a big PK role. He has a lot of defensive responsibility at center so he doesn’t really get to be around the net that much and behind it.

Sometimes these guys break out late.

I dont see Toronto moving anyone unless it's for a dman

Kravstov hasn't had the 2019-2020 that anyone envisioned yet. But I wouldn't assume his value has nose-dived --- not by a long shot.

I also wouldn't assume the Rangers not automatically saying no to including him in a deal is a sign that they don't value him, or that they're shopping him. It's merely to indicate that they are open to the idea for the right player.

Last paragraph

I think this nuance is lost on alot of HF posters

I still worry that teams will view Kreider as purely a rental because no one even wants to consider locking him in long term.

I think they would have interest in Geo.

Geo and our 3rd this year for Gauthier, Toronto’s 2nd in 20 and 2nd in 21’.

We haven’t seen a lot of the Islanders this year. Goat can match the size their biggest guys have, I think he is like the 3rd biggest forward in the league. We are also weak in front of the net. I agree that you don’t correct flaws higher up the lineup by adding ability to your 4th line. But Goat could have a little potential too.

yeah there will be several teams in on him, basically everyone who missed on Hall which means Edmonton, Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Montreal and others.

Yup and plenty of time to negotiate with those teams between now and the deadline. Just gotta hope Kreider gets hot between now and then and doesn't spend the whole time sulking.

I don't necessarily get a sense or urgency, or haven't to this point. If the right deal came along, I think the Rangers would move sooner.

I can't speak to anything regarding St. Louis or Florida, but I have heard on multiple occasions that the Rangers have interest in Jost. I've generally heard they think he could be best served as a wing where he can primarily focus on using his speed to go to the net and let more of a playmaking center set the table. From my understanding, there's still an interest there on the Rangers part. On the Avs part? Not sure, but I would suspect there's more consideration there than a year ago.

Trading Skjei, which I am a big advocate of, creates a bigger hole in 1LD than there already is. The Rangers definitely need another threatening piece in their Top 6, and also a 1LD who can compliment Trouba, preferably an all-situation defenseman who can log 25 TOI a night, which is very hard to find and very pricey at that.

I am a fan of Skjei, but an even bigger fan of upgrading on Skjei. Therefore, I only want to discuss an upgrade over Skjei while including Hajek/Rykov/Reunanen/Skinner in any deal while keeping Miller/Robertson/Lindgren. Otherwise, Skjei is worth holding onto. He's good enough to be merely lackluster on a top pair while being a perfectly fine as a second pair LD. Until, for the sake of argument, Miller becomes the same lackluster top D or perfectly fine secondary D, I don't want to trade Skjei for anything other than an upgrade. And while that wedding photo of him and Trouba gives me warm fuzzies, I'm not entirely comfortable with them being hamfisted together as a top pair for a long period of time unless there's significant growth on the part of Brady himself or upgrading over Lindy Ruff.

So, in response, I'm an advocate of trading Skjei if I get CONVINCED to do so. Otherwise, I'll wait to see if we already have his replacement in Miller/Robertson and address it then.

We basically agree (I just take an "angle"), but wanted to respond to anyone that might poo-poo your take at first glance.

But by the same token, he's exactly the type of *rental* for whom teams have traditionally bid up.

Even last year, Hayes got by far the best return of any pure rental on the market, including by an order of magnitude over our own other top rental, Zucc.

Problem with that is that you still have a forward playing out of position in Nylander.

I’d be disappointed if that was indeed the top-6 next year. The more I watch, the more I lean towards trading Kreider and Buchnevich, especially if they can acquire someone like Nylander. I’d be on the lookout for another big body who prefers to play North/South.
