Really like the Vaakanainan deal at $1.55M. He and Schneider have been solid.

Hear me out... what if we deploy Miller + Borgen against opposing top lines, and give Fox 2nd pairing minutes + PP. He would be way fresher and feast on lower competition.

With Schneider, Soucy, Vaak, Borgen, Miller we now have plenty of d-men that can play hard and kill penalties... keeping Fox's minutes down and saving him for offensive zone situations.

Fox already gets low minutes for a 1D

Fox is our best D by a country mile...He needs to be getting lots of ice time.

He should get a lot of 5v5 and PP time but I don't feel like he needs to be out there killing penalties full blast

e: personally I think Miller is good enough that playing with Fox makes for a fine first pairing (and the stats have born that out). I dunno how often you truly get two bonified #1 defenseman playing on the same pair.

If kreider is still here, this deadline is a failure unless reports were there is no interest bc of health.

Otherwise teams are paying premiums for players. Kreider should get a big return.

I really dislike this. Miller is a #3, Borgen is a #4, Schneider is a #4. They have 3 bottom pairing guys in Soucy, Vaak and Jones. De Haan I think could also be a bottom pairing guy.
Schneider isn’t a #4 in any sense, the rangers have never ever used him that way for a prolonged period of time. Borgen is borderline at best but I think he’s better suited on a bottom pair on a contender. The others are all bottom pairing D. Rangers continue to build the defense in an incomplete fashion.
