But we can't trade Zucc because we'll lose money in jersey sales.

People think trading him has already been decided. But after his comments last week when it sounded like he wants to leave, as reported by Cyrgalis, the Rangers asked him what he's talking about. That's interesting.

What he says is one thing, but I'm pretty sure if they actually offer him an extension he's going to take it.

Why are you only looking at points/game?

He also averages:

1.9707 Hits/game
0.8313 PIM/game
+0.1345/game
0.1491 FOW/game
0.3545 blocks/game
0.1467 PPP/game
2.1809 shots/game

You need to look at the whole picture.

Hes a good player, hes not elite. Hes the best winger we have. How much is all that worth on his next contract?

Which is why fans have to grin and bear it which I'm not sure 80% of the board is willing to do. It's going to get worse before it gets better. And, clearly not you, but why is everyone such a Pionk-hater? "Hot streak? His production last year was good, too. He's had a "hot streak" going all season, I guess. It's weird--everyone is down on Pionk but favorable of DeAngelo, who had a classic hot streak and is back to looking REALLY good ans BEING average at best.

As of the time they both joined the team to now, Pionk is better by a mile... and, YES, numbers ARE everything in 2018, especially for offensive d-men.

I've had the Pionk discussion before and I'm not really sure I still have my head around the opposing view. I hear it, and I get parts of it, but it's still puzzling to me.

I've always felt some of it was the pedigree angle. If the roles were reversed, and Pionk was taken 19th overall and part of the Stepan trade, we'd be tripping over ourselves with what he's doing --- warts and all.

On this team which hasnt had much to talk about in point production. Who was the last person we had in top 10 scoring?

there are 62 "first line" wingers in this league. Top 10 and first line wingers don't equate. There are a lot of first line wingers in the league that i'd pick over kreider. There are also a lot of first line wingers in this league that i'd pick well after i pick chris kreider.

At worst on a great team, he's a good 2nd line winger. On an average team or below average team, he's easily good first line material.

My god. could you imagine kreider with an elite first line center man like tavers ( something this team has't had in like 15 years )?

It's because he's been a huge negative at 5v5. While he is getting tough usage and still hasn't played a full season, up to this point he's performed poorly at even strength. I don't think it has anything to do with draft position or pedigree at all.

Like I said, I hear it.

Don't totally get it or, or agree with it. But I feel like I've been there, said that.

5 goals. $6M. Priceless.

What about his 12 assists? 17p in 28g. Trending for 50 points.

The goals will come. He won’t continue shooting 7%.

Cap will be 83m~ next year. 6m sounds about right for a two way center in his prime. I would move him.

Not sure where the hates coming from though on your end.

1st round pick for Kevin Hayes

1st round pick for Mats Zuccarello

TB wins the Cup and the Rangers get the 31st pick in the draft. It's TB's Cup to lose.

Four 1st round picks in June.

The Rangers should trade Chris Kreider at the deadline in February. They can't go through another season where they have a key player on an expiring contract. The draft is kind of slow for trades. This trade deadline is the time.

It doesn't look like the Rangers will re-sign Hayes no matter how much Larry Brooks campaigns for the Rangers to pay Hayes.

The Rangers have had no discussions or very little discussions about re-signing Zuccarello.

Speaking of Hayes

Goals below expectation is a luck stat and it pretty much says Hayes should be producing like a first liner. You used it to criticize him. Congrats.

Saw some stuff on Twitter about NYR interested in Parayko, doubt it happens but any truth to it?
I’d do Skjei+Lundkvist+ to secure Parayko

I'd definitely deal one of our D prospects for Parayko. Excellent play driver. Only 25.
Apparently the source is Eklund and some random nhl rumor Twitter account so I doubt there’s any truth to it but yeah I’d be all over it

Eklund rumor and that dumb Nhlrumorsdaily acct is spreading it.
Yep just saw that and was pretty let down, would’ve been thrilled if it were someone credible. Parayko is exactly what we need on the backend

Admitedly, 30 points in your first 54 games as a defenseman will also do that.

Personally, I don't think the Rangers move either of Pionk or ADA on the sooner side of spectrum --- not until they have a better understanding of what they have or don't have.

The only exception I can think of is if there is a prime, young talent to be had and one of them is part of the price.

But I think there's a degree of uncertainty around Shattenkirk, and a bit of a gap until other young defenders are going to be ready.
I agree. My original comments about moving one were based on long-term projections where I’d prefer to not build a team of defenders all sub 6 ft ~180 pounds -IIRC, you share similar sentiments.

As to Pionk, I like him. He gets overplayed and his physical limitations will prevent him from ever being more than than a 2nd pairing guy, but I was thrilled when we signed him and I’ve genuinely enjoyed watching his baptism by fire. I think he’s a smart kid with a projectable skillset that will find him as a solid dmen filling that 2nd/3rd pairing, PPQB role for a long time. Do I think he gets moved even within these next two years? No. However, I think he’d be an attractive trade chip because of the offensive run he’s been on, even if it’s mostly powerplay production. I won’t dive into his numbers, but the “run” I mentioned before doesn’t project to be sustainable and he isn’t generating enough offense at 5v5 for my liking. Let’s just leave it there and avoid that conversation again.

Like Trxjw said, if a team with an extra young F is looking for a dman, I could see a hockey trade happening. PIT did really well getting Pettersson from Anaheim. I’d be curious to see if we could find something analogous with a 2017 draftee, say someone like Kole Lind or Klim Kostin?
