Speculation: Roster Building thread - Part XVII - (TDL is March 7th)

Fox and Laf are the cost of a rebuild. Big players are needed to win. Laf can play big but doesn't do it enough. Are the Sens getting a better offer than 23 and 13? Its worth being a pest with Ottawa's management and extract Brady. I like Eichel as a free agent maybe more than Matthews.
 
Brooks trying to trade Laf. The other brainiacs here trying to trade Fox. This season has gone over a lot of people's heads. Neither is happening, unless Brady T is available.

Kreider is next. The Boston rumors imo have legs. He has been demoted and called out the same as Trouba. Zucc played the same half effort game in the months leading up to his trade in 2019.

I think the trade is Kreider(50%) and Othmann to Boston for Frederic, Brazeau and Boston's 1st. The money works out almost dead even as long as Othmann goes to AHL Providence. Rangers would then extend both Frederic and Brazeau (Meat and Potatoes) like they did Borgen.

The follow up to that is Lindgren(50%) and Reilly Smith (50%) to Vegas for their 2025 2nd, 2026 2nd and a 2025 4th. Id love a similar framework to a team willing to trade a 1st.

Deal Vesey for a 4th or 5th. Replace him with Berard.

Restock the draft pic cupboard for the summer and use our cap space from the Trouba trade to retain and sweeten the pot. Use the newfound ammunition to add a partner for Fox.

Lafreniere-Trocheck-Cuylle
Brazeau-Frederic-Kaliyev
Berard-Carrick-Rempe

Buy and sell. Postion yourself to deal Mika and/or Panarin in the summer. teams will have plenty of cap space and Mika seems to enjoy playing with the Swedes.
This tournament has been fun and Im excited for the Final but Im ready for trades to start and games to get underway again.

I don't think so . Laf is never going to be any good and Fox is already slowing down and also....Fox will not play anywhere else and would sulk and likely pass Tkachuk on his way out LOL . Plus . there is about 9 million in cap that Sens have to absorb . That deal does not ever materialize with Fox being in it .

I disagree with your assertion that Fox is slowing down.

The whole team played like shit for 40+ games. That has an impact on numbers and visuals.

Brooks has referenced it for while in a subtle way, I have also heard of the rantanen interest for quite awhile. I think it's in part as well with what Panarin's contract term lines up and that in theory rantanen as a winger represents a different type and size of elite level winger than Panarin. Panarin has much better vision and offensive IQ, but rantanen has the size and strength that is required to play effective playoff hockey.

If Carolina can't resign him then there are some questions if the canes will flip him but how can the canes recoup a necas like asset right now? If the rangers make an offer to the canes I pray it doesn't have gabe in it but otherwise what's going? Is there any world nyr could trade Panarin for rantanen? Probably not a fit due to style or play and nmc, but in a vacuum it could give the canes a different dynamic and an extra year of control of an elite point producer. I think Panarin with svechnikov could help unlock some more of svechnikov's offense.

Kreider is 217th in scoring amongst NHL forwards, behind powerhouses like Keegan Kolesar, Nic Dowd and Brendan Gallagher. He stinks. IF he's injured he should be on IR allowing for development of a young winger. If he's not able to go 100% he shouldn't be playing. But keep proping up your boy while he continues to suck out loud.

I agree with all of that except for the krieder and Othman deal. What the f*** is that crap! We are not moving othmann for that garbage yet alone adding krieder. Frederick and brazeau are overrated and I’d rather keep othmann and let him play in the nhl. Neither Fredric or brazaue have had anything outside of one year. If it’s krieder for those pieces and a 1st then fine but hell no am I adding one of our top prospects for garbage

All in fun ....I just took this one because it showed the lyrics . Geesh....they used to play this tune at our Legion Saturday night dances 45 years ago....and when it came on everybody was on the dance floor ! Good times....

I think Othmann for a first is pretty much what his value is. Brazeau and Frederic fit the timeline and play how Drury wants the team to play. I think its close value-wise and that says some not great things about Kreider.

I do hear you though. If Frederic is the Frederic of the last 2 years going forward, thats a really valuable piece. But maybe we get more in terms of futures coming back our way from Boston. I just think the overall point is that is where Chris is destined. Helps that Drury, Sweeney and Kreider will all be in Beantown this week.
