The irony of this post after all the stuff I’m reading from canadiens on here today

I’m glad Canada got a much needed W

Canada won the tournament. The US started proclaiming US hockey is here after winning a round robin game… again.

Same thing happened in 2010. The US beat Canada in the group stage and started celebrating that it’s a change of the guard and the US program is better only to lose in the finals.

You’d think they learn from it but they don’t. The same will probably happen at the Olympics.

For all the trash being talked on the US program right now, they’ve made the final in 3 of the last 5 best on best tournaments. In the last two of those, they fell short of gold by two OT goals scored by generational players. We’ve gone from Canada being a stand-alone dominant force to edging out wins by the smallest margin possible. That most certainly is a changing of the guard compared to where we were 20 years ago, of course Americans are going to talk about it.

They are going to overtake us someday, sadly. Even though it’s not considered a top two or three sport in the states, the sheer number of residents all but ensure that it will happen.

But for now, we can continue to enjoy being at the top and be proud of the hard fought victory. Hopefully it continues into the Olympics.
