I would certainly like to see, in no specific order:
Howden-Ziba-Kakko
Panarin-Strome-Fast
Kreider-Chytil-Buch

And then Lemiuex rotated in Howden's role if he doesn't deliver.

Ola have you been drinking a lot this past year? Your posts have been slipping whether its trade suggestions or evaluations.

In no way shape or form should Brett Howden get a PROMOTION after being the worst Rangers forward this year. Awful. Do not stick that poor excuse for a forward with Zibanejad and Kakko so that half the plays in the offensive zone can die and then about 25% of the others Howden can collect points riding on the coattails of the other two making it look like he is producing.

Smith at forward tells me otherwise. What if Andersson and Kravtsov arent ready next year either? I mean we all thought they would both be on NYR right now.

thank you

So much hype and anticipation these children will flood the net like Laine right from the start. Half of his stats would be a stretch. These two play well but they’re children. My gosh, in Stamford we see Kravtsov’s young Mommy walking around cheering her kid. This is going to take time and I being ready next year is a maybe IMO. (although I think we all would like to see more out of Lias)

Dillon Dube would be an interesting target if we were making a deal with Calgary (and they were interested in moving a prospect for a vet). Listed as a C, but has been playing wing. He's a PPG in the AHL (this season and last) and is 21. Hasn't managed to break through in the NHL yet.

They were at the u20 tournament at the Helsinki Ice Hall, while the Karjala tournament was played at Hartwall. It's a 10-minute Uber ride but they did not attend the games at Hartwall (I asked)
Also not sure why amateur scouts would be watching a 21 year old.

I’ve always been a 3 line guy. We have two lines that works well. Why disrupt Chytils line when it’s working?

I also think Howden stands to gain the most from getting moved to that line. He has leveled of in his current role. He isn’t getting anywhere. Galloping legs, but not much thought behind what he does on the ice. A simplified role on the wing, but two linemates who will request that he makes sound decisions with the puck, could help him.

We also have a void there when/if Kreider is traded. Try getting Howden to model his game after Chris.

Panarin - Strome - Fast/Lemieux
Kreider - Zibanejad - Kaako
Lemieux/Fast - Chytil - Buchnevich
McKegg - Howden - Smith

Is what I’d like to see with that third line getting a good amount of ice time. As long as Strome/Panarin stays hot that’s three actual solid lines that can produce.

Anyone else feel that the Islanders can get a point in like 50+ games and STILL no one would be talking about them?

It's quite pathetic, actually. I mean it's a fantastic feat. Points in 16 straight games, but aside from the two dozen Islanders fans in existence and the die-hard hockey fans, no one knows.

What's going on with Calgary? They're worse than we are! Can we fleece these guys or what?
I don’t think CGY has anything to fleece. Gaudreau is still going to cost a lot. Don’t love any of their secondary pieces. Don’t have any centers to move. I’m not seeing it.

Monahan is who I'd want from them. Or their 1st if they are really that desperate.

I like Monahan, Lindholm, Backlund, Bennett and Hanifin. I don’t think we’d target any of them, though Bennett intrigues me and could still breakout a little with a change of scenery.

I don’t see it with Bennett at all. He has never done anything. He is been on good teams. He has been on bad teams. He is a minus player that is in the 20-30 point range who has had injuries. I’d rather stick with Lias

Or you’ll end up with two incredibly frustrated linemates who can’t possess the puck long enough when on the ice because Howden is turning it over. Or they do all the leg work in the O Zone and then dish it off to Howden who can’t finish or fumbles the puck.

Also, Howden will NEVER ever be Chris Kreider.

Honestly, the Islanders could be the new NJD.

The NHL opened up the game with the crack down on interference and clutching and grabbing. Everyone loves the result. But it was cumbersome for the guys in charge so they tossed the rule book out the window.

Nobody want 2003 back again, and this time without physical hockey, but all it takes is one team making the shift. A really defensive minded trapping team could win the effin cup. Then the year after there will be 10 copy cats and 20 after two years.

This time Bettman and co won’t let it slide as long as they did the last time, but I mean, I wouldn’t at all rule out that a team that went in as trapped and played really defensively more or less could walk home a cup.

I don’t care! ;)

But seriously, Chytil’s line is doing great. Why on earth should we break that up? And Panarin alone is carrying Ryan effin Strome and Jesper Fast and that line is performing well enough. Why break that up?

Put who is left on the third top 3 line. Ziba and Kakko is a good start. You also have Lemieux and Howden can go on the 4th.

I just think it would be typical DQ amateur hour to break down two lines that over performs because he got some pecking order that he is married too.

I don't think the Rangers would necessarily target Bennett, but they've always had a soft spot for reclamation projects and have done well with finding guys who have stagnated or regressed with other teams. Zibanejad and Strome have reached new levels with the Rangers. Tony DeAngelo was a guy who seemed to be having problems finding a home. Hell even Grabner and Stralman came to NY and became very good players -- or returned to that status in Grabner's case. Pouliot is another guy who found a good role here.

So while I can't see the Rangers going out and making someone like Bennett a primary target, I can certainly see them looking for a guy like him as the tipping piece in a deal. The same way they picked up guys like Lemieux, Rykov, or Lindgren in other deadline deals.

Also, I joked about him the other night, but I can't help but wonder a little bit about Jankowski as a winger on a line with two high-skill players.

Why would they trade a franchise C? And what would we have to give up? I'd rather have Matthew Tkachuk anyways. Would make us a giant pia to play against. Also I want Nick Ritchie after seeing how he plays.
