I really don’t see why trading Kreider is unlikely
Today? Highly unlikely. If you were a team like Nashville, would you trade your first today when you might not even make the playoffs?

If somebody wants Kreider today, they will pay a big price. Especially with Taylor Hall potentially being available. And I don't think the Rangers would trade Kreider for a typical deadline deal (suspect and a first) unless they can make a good hockey trade.

A player that stood out to me last playoffs, is a player I feel we're lacking.. Josh Anderson.

Big, fast, throws his body around, grinds it out, can throw them, PKs, has thumbs... the type of player I feel we need and can grow with the team. ( essentially another Lemieux )

Lemieux Lias Andersson would be a fun line to watch

I would love to poach him from Columbus when they decide it’s time to tear it down.

I'm game for this scenario:

Skjei and a LHD prospect not named Miller or Jones to Toronto for Nylander

Kreider to Calgary for Kylington, a 3rd rounder and a conditional 2nd (contingent upon Kreider extending in Calgary)

Sign DeAngelo to an extension at Skjei's number (5 years, 5.5 million per)

Extend Buchnevich at 4 years, $6 million per

Not sure if it works cap wise.

Posting this so no one can accuse me of being a DeAngelo hater.

Line up next year

Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Buchnevich-Zibanejad-Nylander
Andersson-Chytil-Kravtsov
Lemieux-Howden- Who knows, Fast walks

Hajek-Trouba
Kylington-DeAngelo
Lindgren-Fox

Shoot Staal into the sun. Smith is kept around as the swiss army knife extra.

That team could potentially make the playoffs and make noise if Kravtsov shows up to training camp hungry and receptive to feedback.

Why would Toronto trade Nylander for Skjei?

Maybe Skjei+Georgiev+ a second

Also Zibby will be back on the first line in no time. And Chytil will be the 2c.

Kravstov is probably better at LW and Buchnevich is better at RW.

Andersson probably not even on this team but Lemiux over him anyday on the third line.

Didn't someone suggest Nick Ritchie as a similar sort of player?

He was referring to how the timing of the trade could affect the outcome of the trade due to trade protection. When he said today, he literally meant today.
My fault

Josh Anderson is exactly the guy we should target. He is a Tom Wilson lite. Perfect compliment to Lemieux and makes this team 10x tougher to play against. Because lets face it we have the skill and from that we have the offense. The team does need to work on its defense, but that can be helped by being tougher to play against because you wear the opposition down by banging them up with physical shifts.

I've brought up Anderson on the boards a couple of times. I love the guy.

Aircraft carrier.

Im not sure why people are super eager to give ADA 5M+ long term right now.

I guess it's cause he's a mascot and people like him but uhh that dude is getting a bridge deal in the 2/5.5 range and he's gonna like it.

He's gonna get paaaaid... about 2.75M.

I’m hoping Hall re-ups In NJ. That’ll elevate CK’s value.
I can’t see any chance he stays. The team stinks, they’ll most likely trade him so they don’t lose him for nothing. Now, things can change quickly. Say Hynes gets fired tomorrow and they hire Babcock in a last ditch effort to convince Hall to stay. I just don’t see Hall staying/the Devils risking a Tavares situation and losing him for nothing .

Fun fact: Brendan Lemieux has one less point in 3 less games than our old friend Kevin Hayez

Good mix of last year's ex rangers over and underperforming around the league. Vesey Hayes and Zucc struggling, Shatty and Pionk doing well.

Boone Jenner is a guy I think could break out away from CBJ.

In CBJ everyone plays like him, and he isn’t a center at all. Only Torts that would use him there. But I think he would be a really good grinding winger/PFer.

OK contract too.

Would be a classically short sighted NYR contract decision.
No... If you have him 5/25 it would be like giving him 3/20 after giving him 2/5.

I don't think there's any way he gets 7M in any RFA year except his last one.

His value is not the same thing as his market.

First of all, everyone always say that they cannot imagine a player making “x m”, then the player ends up making a heck of a lot more then x m.

How many times didn’t we hear — is Kevin Hayes a 4m player? He got 7x7.

Skinner just got 9m. I wouldn’t trade TDA for Skinner.

The big difference for me though is that we should overpay for players this season and next — in order to have good contracts in 2-5 years when we are supposed to compete. Bridge dealing Buch, Lemieux and TDA last summer in order to save money today — that will cost us when we are supposed to compete was BEYOND dumb.

We could easily have afforded long term deals for those 3 if we bought out Staal and Smith too besides Shatty. Which would have saved us a boat load of cap space when we are supposed to contend...

if Kreider goes to the Flames, Rangers should demand Sam Bennett. untapped offensive potential, grit, can play wing and center and is a pest to play again and under 24 years old. I believe he PK for the Flames if my memory serves me right.

Jenner would be a cap dump for them or does he have decent value. I would love Jenner on this team, hard nosed tough gritty and can play 2ed or 3rd line and can PK. not sure how he is on faceoffs or is he a winger now?
