I’ll take it one further- Smith for Jbo, Gunnarson, and +. We help them clear major room for this season, they can go after a marquee goalie (their biggest issue). They’d have Edmundson, Dunn, Smith and Walman on LD. Parayko, Bortuzzo and Schmaltz on RD until Peach is back (Jerabek in minors).

Jbo and Gunnarson both LD who aren’t great but can take minutes. Their contracts expire this season. We could flip them at TDL for late round picks, maybe, or do nothing. Having them would make moving Skjei this season easier, for the right deal of course.

Since were taking all that cap room in the deal, they could be inclined to include a mid/lesser prospect from San Antonio. Maybe Niko Mikkola.

The Rangers have only 34 games left until the trade deadline. They played 28. They have 20 after the deadline. They need to get Zuccarello healthy. Give him as much time as he needs to get him healthy and he returns to the lineup for good until the deadline.

McQuaid should be back within the next two weeks. The Rangers gave up a 4th and 7th for him. He serves two purposes. McQuaid will show he is healthy enough to be traded and he is terrible so he will help the Rangers lose more games.

McQuaid is critical for the Rangers short-term failure.

Pietrangelo out until after Xmas. Their defense has been atrocious

Feel like they might just take their lumps this season.

Although, didn’t they trade their first??? We really need to get on trading for firsts a season in advance, those trades almost ALWAYS go bad for the team trading the first.

The 1st is top-10 protected.

Not when they're for Ryan O Reilly

They lottery protected it

Edit: beaten to it :rolly:

Te Rangers should be ALL over that (and no I do't mean Alzner)

Posted about DAL being a good target for the defense the other day. Nill is very lucky that Bayruther is working out, because if he didn't they would not have 4 NHL level players playing on their backend. Some of it's bad luck, but the rest is just bad roster building. They aren't going to sniff the playoffs if they don't address this.

They've got some very solid bottom 6 guys that can help the Rangers and off-set some salary. Money isn't an issue for their owner. I'm a big fan of the big guy he wants to win. They are short on the back-end, and don't have any help coming up from their farm system. They could rush some guys, but others aren't ready.

Sad thing is, after Robertson, and arguably Dellandra.... their farm is barren of any notable talent. They were in the Karlsson sweepstakes. Will go for him as a UFA. But imo they will need to land more defensemen even if they sign EK65 (don't see it).

Looks like they were trying to get him a good opportunity to play. Not take much back. They get it done with Vancouver and he is out of conference.

Kinda puzzled by the lovefest for Leivo. He's 25 (26 when he hits RFA this summer), with 84 games in the NHL. What am I missing here?

He's always been noted as a guy who should get top-9 minutes and he produces in his short stints in that type of role but the Leafs always bump him down or our of the lineup. It's a good pick up for a team like Vancouver or ateam looking for more depth scoring. The guy hasn't been given a consistent role and yet he has 28 points in 84 games played. ~30-35 points from a RH forward at close to league minimum? It's not earth shattering but it's good bang for your buck

Yeah Leivo gave up unrestricted free agency this year to re-sign with the Leafs. Good honest worker, and nice net front abilities in his limited time. I didn't think TOR was going to trade him in the east and have him become a story. He never carved out a role under Babcock.

You know who's good at hockey? Jesper Fast. I would love for him to be in our long-term plans at the right price.

The Rangers do absolutely everything better than their opponent when Fast is on the ice. Physical, responsible, puts work in. Dream 4th liner but isn't embarrassing slotting up if he has to.

He’s going to be paid like a 3rd liner very soon. I’m guessing ~$3m.

I like Strome too honestly

He will get at minimum 4/14 and probably better than that. I could see arguments both ways for paying him that.

Keep in mind that's two more years of cap increases and two more years of asinine contracts like Komarov's corpse 4/12, Beagle 4/12 on the UFA market to be out there, let alone guys like Spooner's bum ass getting 2/8.

Great, a 4th liner, so if he wants more than 2M he can walk.

Most overrated Ranger over the last decade.

This team is so bad everyone is all about Fasth lol

Is he a nice player? Of course.

Everyone keep talking Hayes trade and how he’s replaceable... Fasth is 100 times more replaceable

That thief has been the only reason the Rangers are good for the last decade. Not his fault he not once had the teammates to do it.

This is some truly next level chauvinism. Nash didn’t do shit for Boston either, won nothing in Columbus before us.

When you’re paying someone 8 mil per season, THEYRE THE ONES SUPPOSED TO BRING OTHER PLAYERS TO THEIR LEVEL, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND
