I would be so much more excited if they were rumored to be targeting a legit first pairing LD.
Yeah a stealth Josi add would be a fantastic surprise.

No it doesn’t count what would be leaving. It does already count for Berard salary and Brodzinski being an everyday player. Here’s what’s on the books:Is this accounting for the salary that would be sent out? Because if Chytil is involved that 4.437+ added onto that total.
It's not enough, but this is why Zibanejad and Kreider are likely goners.
They have in house options at forward (Berard, Othmann, presumably Perreault) who can help off set some of the higher salaried forwards.
They need an actual f***ing game plan for the defense though. Thats going to be tough if they can't move at least 2 of the big 3.
Someone I’ve wondered about is Thomas Harley. Schneider+ for him.Yeah a stealth Josi add would be a fantastic surprise.
VAN loses to BUF 3-2.
Let's guess that the max # will go up from 13? whatever to 15m per.Unlikely but not impossible. I'd keep the cap wide open until we hear an extension has been signed. What a colossal failure if Drury blows all our cap space right before McD announces he's testing the market. He wouldn't do that for some time but again, until there's an extension, it could still happen.
Cuylle RFA
Edstrom RFA
Miller RFA
Jones RFA
Rempe RFA
Borgen UFA
Smith UFA
Vaakanainen UFA
Lindgren UFA
Vesey UFA
Quick UFA
22.5 million in estimated available cap space next season.
If Drury acquires JT Miller and his 8 mil that leaves 14.5 million left to sign:
2 forwards
4 d-men
1 goalie
Just to get to a 20 man roster.

IF McD coming here were actually possible, we could sell some of those assets for cheaper futuresNo it doesn’t count what would be leaving. It does already count for Berard salary and Brodzinski being an everyday player. Here’s what’s on the books:
Panarin 11.6 million
Shesterkin 11.5 million
Fox 9.5 million
Zibanejad 8.5 million
Lafreniere 7.5 million
Kreider 6.5 million
Trocheck 5.6 million
Chytil 4.4 million
Schneider 2.2 million
Carrick 1.0 million
Berard 900k
Brodzinski 800k
Forward in (Miller) forward out (Chytil)
Now the count goes up to 18.1 million.
Team will need to sign 4 d-men
I only wanted to report known values.
Zibanejad has an NMC.
Not using any hypotheticals because Drury can’t count on the kindness of the other 31 GMs.
Can remember who said it but it’s an old hockey saying “When a GM is drowning it’s more likely his counterparts will throw him an anchor not a life preserver“.
He’s not a UFA until the following season.Let's guess that the max # will go up from 13? whatever to 15m per.
If we run the team my way, keeping Kreider, dealing other vets for youth we get there easy peasy
If we do not sell high on Shesty/Fox/Tro it is much tougher but leaning yes
It is not a given but I expect bread will want to avoid ugliness and rather than mutual embarrassment by him not getting big re-up offer, he will waive next yr
IF we consent to his terms->relocation
still hoping he lets us send him to DAL now
Zib MUST be moved regardless
IF McD coming here were actually possible, we could sell some of those assets for cheaper futures
Always improve your team. But if the master plan is to sign McD, don't go messing up your cap space. I really hope Drury can make out like a bandit this TDL by being a cap brokerage firm.
Fingers crossed they send him out at the TDL for some draft picks. If the TDL package turns out to be a random collection of garbage AHL players, that's also a vomit scenario.
