So not only does Larry in this new article suggest rushing Shestyorkin because he might, based on absolutely no articulable facts, “run back to Russia” (but really because Larry doesn’t want to cover a bad hockey team), he follows that up by going even dozier in pontificating on what the Rangers would have to do to get 27 year old Blake Coleman from the Devils. He must have started getting drunk early the day he wrote this one.

100% totally agree.

Have the "Come to Jesus" talk with him this summer and tell him thanks for the memories but he's 3rd on the depth chart. Either waive the NMC or retire from the NHL and go play for Frolunda for the last playing years of his career. Go out with some class and dignity. Tell him there's a team ambassador position with his name on it whenever he wants it and that the jersey retirement will be done whenever he wants it.

The fans will still love him and the Rangers will have some cap space to absorb the millions in dead cap from all of the buyouts they have on the books. Win/win.
I’d have the conversation with him at the deadline to be honest.

Stupid he was on the team to begin with and even stupider it took this longer for him to be waived.

Just carry Lettieri or Nieves as an extra forward. Neither are amazing but at least they bring perceived skill sets (Nieves is quick and Lettieri has a good shot) and can be decent spare forwards as opposed to Haley who brings nothing and only plays 5 mins a night. If they need an edge, they still have Lemieux and DeAngelo as well as someone like Smith who will get chippy. No reason for Haley in today's game.

It's not rushing. Rushing is a 19-year-old Dan Blackburn forced to be the starter. A cup of coffee for him is fine. He deserves it. If he gets 5-7 games in this year nothing wrong with that.

Hoping they give Gettinger a shot to develop. To clarify my point, I'm not "giving up on him" by any means I just don't see him as a priority in terms of shots with the big club.

Lundqvist has started ten games this season. He has a save % of below 90% in half of those starts. .905 is his save % which good for 31st overall. His GAA is 3.54 which is 46th overall. 46 out of 50. Lundqvist has had his good moments. You look at his overall numbers and we know who should the odd man out of the Rangers goaltending situation. It would be a shame if the Rangers traded Georgiev because they didn't want to make a decision on Lundqvist. Henrik will be 38 in March and has one year remaining on his contract. He is not 30 years old with a 3-4 quality seasons remaining. I bring up 30 because he won the Vezina at 30 in 2012. If you a senior member of Rangers tank nation where you believe another top 5 pick in 2020 will serve the Rangers better down the road, you want Lundqvist to play a significant amount of games this season. Sending down Georgiev for Shesterkin sees the best goaltender on the Rangers right now in the AHL.

The Rangers trade Georgiev to play Shesterkin and then the Rangers will be looking for another goaltender in 21-22 to share the net with Shesterkin. The people in the media think Lundqvist will play forever. If you look at his numbers this season,Hank is on the back nine of his career. He will have his good moments this season like his back to back starts against Detroit and Carolina. I thought Sam Rosen was going to pass out in the Carolina game talking about Lundqvist.

The Connolly goal last night went right through him. The 2nd Dadonov goal. Lundqvist was late getting across. That is happening more and more.

Lundqvist should do everyone a favor and just retire this season. Take the wife and kids back to Sweden. He will be 38 years old. The Rangers are moving into a different detection.

Love him and his # is going to the rafters and he's going to the HOF but he's essentially done as an everyday starter. The game is different now and these kids playing are half his age. He isn't going to have a miraculous revival.

Hopefully means Zibanejad is coming back soon

yeah hopefully it means that mika and kakko are going to be back...

and not the answer everyone wants, but they don't need to sign haley down after he clears. there is a 30 day window that you can send him down without needing waivers again...so if those 2 aren't ready for wed night they could just keep haley

Shesterkin is ready. It’s not rushing. He can’t go to Russia this year his contract isn’t set up that way. But he can stall if he stays down there too long and he’s not being challenged.

Georgiev right now isn’t doing himself any favors. He’s as some bad games in the last little bit with Ottawa and Tampa. He’s got waiver exemption status.

hanks not going to retire. He thinks every goal is someone else’s fault and he’s got years left. I think he’s going to be stubborn about it even after his contract expires. I think he’s going to want to keep playing. There’s an Eli Manning piece to this that is only going to get more awkward

Hank loves this organization. Once his contract is up he's not going to be publicly trashing them IMO. Deals up, they say they don't have the need for a third goalie, that's that.

Georgiev could take some games down in the AHL right now. He's struggled a bit. Not so badly that I'd send him down to bring up Huska or something, but with Shesty playing as he is, swapping them makes sense imo. He's still only 23 and can improve a lot. No shame in playing down for a little bit.

I have zero doubts about hanks class or loyalty to this franchise. I just don’t think he’s going to want to retire after next year and it may get very awkward because the Rangers are going to want to move on and he won’t.

Sometime in the next 6-8 weeks, I expect the Rangers will recall the Czar and give him a couple of games. I think that was always in the plan. Reason #1...get a good first hand look. Reason #2...get Henrik thinking. He can count. If he clearly sees the handwriting on the wall, perhaps he would have some interest in that trade deadline move to a real contender. Remember this, Henrik saves some of his best games for Carolina.
