Donato is listed as Center on Hockey Reference but it doesnt look like he has been playing center.

He has been getting similar ice time to Lias.

I would rather send Andersson down and trade Howden for Donato to be honest. Not impressed with Howden at all. Kid is weak on the puck. Just physically doesn’t have it. He got a lot of time last season. He had all offseason to get stronger after getting a taste of the NHL.

Would like to see what the ask is for Donato. Might not have to give up either of those guys. Maybe a B prospect and 2nd round pick.

Pretty sure a 2nd round pick + B prospect is more valuable than either of those guys.

I would also be interested in seeing what LA wants for Toffoli. May be able to get him on the cheap. Looks like he needs a change of scenery at this point. Expiring contract, so if it doesnt workout you move on.

It's not like there's untapped potential with Toffoli. At 27, he is what he is: a 2nd liner putting up 40-50 points.

Not worth looking at in our situation. "If it doesn't work out, you move on." There's nearly a 0% chance of it working out for when this team will be competitive again.

Yeah, I feel like Donato at this point is the prospect included in that type of return, not necessarily the player on the other end of that type of deal.

Gibbons is on waivers. I could see Quinn being interested in a veteran Boston player as 4C if Andersson is demoted.

Any move that has a chance of improving our god awful 4th line I am in favor of.

Smith is back to being awful and ineffective. Andersson has done nothing to warrant a promotion. Haley is useless.

Give me Gibbons-McKegg-Beleskey. At least there you have some energy.

Donato is a good player at a cross roads in his development. He played very well after being traded to Minnesota last year. Off to a very slow start this year. Still young at 23. He's showed good ability. Boston at the time dealt him as the main piece to acquire Coyle. Still, it gives me pause as to why he's stalling all of a sudden on a not so good team. Lack of opportunity? Poor play? I'm not sure.

I'd take the chance on him personally.

Agreed, but it's obvious the Rangers, at least the coaching staff has identified Howden as a guy they really like and Andersson not so much. So that's likely not going to happen.

He'd be an interesting pickup, moreso as a UFA I think than as a trade acquisition. Think there's a decent chance he will be undervalued for what he brings. Shoots the puck a ton which we can use on this team.

If Georgiev goes, I suspect it's in the offseason in a package deal with a skater in order to get a young NHL player in return.
Agreed. Georgie is a good goalie, but the days of getting a high draft pick for just a goalie (a la Schneider for 10thOA) are long past. He'll definitely contribute significant value to any deal he's involved in though.

If Georgie has another rough start or two after this, I think we will see Igor get a look.

Gorton start working the phones. I think we need a real monster run to get into the POs the coming months, and that must just be seen as unlikely.

Fast, 2020 3rd round pick and 2021 4h round pick that becomes a 2nd conditional upon like Pulju playing 60 games and scoring say at least 0.5 PPG in 20/21.

Kreider for a 1st, the sooner that trade is made — the better. Bigger chance for whatever team that trades for Kreider ends up sucking.

Send Lias to the AHL so that he gets to play more in a bigger role. Trade Strome at the deadline to a team looking for a center. I don’t think we can get a 1st — but who knows. Maybe a 2nd and an OK prospect. Then move up Lias again in March.

Before last night’s performance I was thinking lets sell high on Georgiev to Toronto who has had a carousel of unstable backups the last few years. GG may need a few weeks to regain that value because last night was an awful showing for him.
.

This is part of the problem. Respectfully, it’s Lundqvist who should step up and move on. We shouldn’t have to move Georgiev b/c he is a kid and the Rangers are clearly rebuilding.

Okay and what are they getting for Henrik?

They could conceivably get more for Georgiev.

And Georgiev and Shesty both cant play.

A possible contender would give more for Lundqvist than Georgiev, but he would have to approve the trade. I doubt it happens. I'm hopeful we can hang on to both of those guys until Lundqvist is gone.

No one was wanting this. But yes, youngest team in the league and these games will happen. All a part of the process of growing.

You and a few others didnt but missing the playoffs and continuing to garner top talent in the draft while making smart trades is how to build a winner. Making the playoffs only hurts this team long term

You can only do that for so long, imo the Leafs waited too long and now they have no cap space left and have had to deal off picks and players to get rid of salary. I'm of the opinion that this year is a tweener year that we need to see growth from the young players, Chytil, Kakko, Fox, Andersson, Howden, Hajek and Lindgren and then make a push for playoffs next year and hopefully win a round and start cranking it up a notch the year after. I'm enjoying the rebuild so far, would like to see more from Andersson and was hoping Kravtsov would have stayed in Hartford but so far so good

I would offer Buch and Georgiev to Toronto for Nylander, i think theres a deal there.
I would say that's not enough but apparently Nylander has 8 G - 8 A which isn't that crazy. Johnsson and Kapanen aren't that far behind. I probably wouldn't want t trade Nylander if I was Toronto simply because he's one of their only core players that doesn't have an insane contract.

salary cap relief and retain a young goalie. Rotate the young goalies.

This so incredibly naive.

What is the return for Henrik who has been a staple in this organization? This city? I know its so easy for the couch potato to trade him but have we evaluated the other factors...

either way i think Georgiev at his age returns more than Hank would. The added benefit is Hank can mentor Shesty.

And on top of all this, Hank hasnt been bad at all. So sell high on Georgiev.

I completely agree with you, but am hoping we can get a top 5 pick this year, get another franchise core forward and be a playoff team next season. Just remember rebuilding requires patience. We will need a year or two but I want this team to be built the right way and for the long haul and be a top team for years and years to come.. hate to say it but like the Bruins
