Here’s something for your opinions. If anybody gets hurt now (defensemen only), who is your pick to be called up while Staal is on the mend? One rhd and one lhd. Go

Depends on the RD and LD factor, as you mentioned, but also if it's long-term.

I think if it's long-term or on the left side, I'd call up Raddysh or Ebert and keep them around as the 7th D while Smith fills the injury slot.

If it's short-term, the RD would be Keane.

Proposal: Kovy and a pick for Marc Staal and Gropp

1.) Staal isn't going to waive to go the Kings
2.) Gorton is not going to take on a 6.2M 35+ contract on a turning 37 year old guy that's a shell of his former self
3.) Adding Ryan Gropp to a trade proposal, at this point, is like adding a bag of Skittles
4.) Why do the Kings want/need Staal anyway?

This trade might actually hurt both teams more than it helps. Keep spitballing' though.

The Rykov thing is a puzzler. He's been out for like two months now, hasn't he?

Staal to Toronto for Ceci gives us one less year of Staal for another crappy dman only signed for this year, retain enough to make it equal so Toronto can make the move. Toronto might bite? I dunno, maybe retain full half of staals contract so Toronto gets some cap relief as part of the deal? Then plant Ceci to the bench and wait.

They really seem to be close to worst-case scenarios
Fortunately for Rykov, his only competition in Hartford is Day and he is very unlikely to get leapfrogged this year. To get minutes with NYR, he only needs an injury and more ability than Staal, Smith (whew).

Spot on. Like I said, at this juncture $4 x 4 is looking like smart business. Both for the franchise and him.
I still think it’s too much of the cap for 3C. Unless he really evolves into a legit 2C. Which isn’t out of the question. Just depends on how the Rangers see him.

Islanders could have a 30 game winning streak. No one will care. It's quite sad actually. New York couldn't care less about the Islanders and the Nets. They should relocate to places that will actually care.

Yeah, I'm jealous of the steak, but it's unbelievable that no one actually talks about it. It's sad and pathetic.

We're only about 2 games out of a playoff spot. I really hope Gorton doesn't let that change his mind on trading guys that should be traded.

Way too early still and even if we are in the playoff race we at the very least need to stand pat and not trade any young players/picks. I guess when the time comes we will have a better idea what the market is for Kreider/Strome???

Staal is an easy buy out this summer. Saves us around 2.5 mil next year and then it’s a year of like 1 mil after. Simple decision.

Rykov if folks remember actually had a set back and reinjured the ankle right before camp started. High ankle sprain could bother u for a year frankly so not surprised it’s still an issue. Tony said his bothered him for 6 months.

Interested to get board’s view.

When Zibanejad returns and Quinn decides to go with Lemieux - Strome - Fast third line, would the “bickering” calm down if Howden and Lias play together (Lias probably shifted to LW) and Smith on RW?
