The entire history of these threads summed up in one image

Neal is an even worse idea than Kovalchuk and, again, why is he signing a short one year deal without a NMC/NTC on a team that's not going to compete as far as we know? He's 30, not 38. Not happening.

Its probably the best way for Neal to make money and a lot of it. We will have cap space, why not give him 8m per for a 1 year deal? 12m per (lol how much cap space do we have?)? Neal will know that he is playing for a contender after the deadline. He won't get something even remotely to 8m on a long term deal. Is it happening? I doubt it -- but I wouldn't be against it. Has nothing to do with contending or the cap going up in my world, its beefing up the depth for the season to help the kids and getting an asset that can't hurt us and very likely would give us another 1st in 2018. With 50% retention at the deadline most could fit him in no matter what he makes.

Bob McKenzie’s latest edition of the BobCast was released yesterday. LA is interested in Kessel. LA wants help on the wing. They also have interest in Skinner. McKenzie said Buffalo has interest in Skinner which is odd considering Buffalo wants to change the culture of their team and they are talking to teams about ROR. Skinner is a free agent next summer. Buffalo is rebuilding. Skinner comes from Carolina which hasn’t made the playoffs since 2009. How is Skinner changing their culture? Florida is another team looking for a winger. He brought up Pacioretty. That’s an old rumor. Montreal wanted Trochek at the deadline for Pacioretty. Florida was the other team besides Tampa in the final running for McDonagh. What was Florida offering? They weren’t offering Borgstrom. He is not being traded. McKenzie said Florida is looking to move Petrovic. Was Florida the team which made the 11th hour offer for Zuccarello? They weren’t getting McDonagh or Pacioretty. Carp wrote about the Rangers receiving a quality offer at the last minute for Zuccarello. Gorton was finalizing the McDonagh deal which involved having the Tampa doctors sign off on the teade. Trucker had a broken hand. Zuccarello would be a good fit in Florida. He is a Rangers fan favorite. There are many Rangers fans in Florida. Maybe he can convert some of them into Panthers fans and they can buy a few more tickets. Some of the bandwagon Rangers fans. They don’t follow the team when it’s not playing well. We have a few on this board too. From what some people say here,Zuccarello likes the warm weather. Florida will pay him.

I'd love to see how the Yotes sell a move like that to their fan base.

I assume many of the fans want to actually attempt to win at some point. Easier to sell Zucc than another LITR for picks trade.

We are in year one of a rebuild. Some of these teams are into their first decade of rebuilding. I think fans want to compete.

I'm assuming as much. I just think the Yotes would be hard-pressed to pass on the next Tkachuk.
Or even Zadina. They need someone that’s gonna put butts in their seats, and they don’t have much outside of OEL (who may be gone) and Keller. Tkachuk and Zadina would do that
