I don't think shatty for 10 is a good trade for us.

Shatty is a top 20 defenseman in the nhl...that's very poor value.

That all depends, if Shattenkirk is tasked with being the Rangers top RHD next season, and it goes poorly, what happens to his trade value then?

I'd rather have 28 hajek and howden than 10.

Considering who will most likely be available at 10, I agree, but in the (admittedly very unlikely) scenario that was recently floated where Zadina, Tkachuk, and Wahlstrom are all available at 9, I’d rather have 10.

I'd take kravtsov howden and hajek over tkachuk

We'll see. I think it's more likely his trade value goes down rather than up from this point on. Mostly the Rangers are not likely to be all that good in general, and if nothing changes he is going to be facing the other teams better players far more than he has ever consistently done in the past.

All the same I think this is a moot point, he has a clause, history with new coach and the Rangers probably are somewhat worried about how it would look, even though I don't think they should be.

All just speculation obviously, but I think the likelihood of Bokk or Kravtsov being available at 26 or 28 is about as likely as all 3 of the guys I mentioned being available at 9, but if we're playing the game that those 3 are all available, then we have to play by the same rules for 26 and 28, so yes, in that circumstance I agree.

Shatty is not a top 20 defenseman in the NHL. He isn’t even a #1. I’d make that move all day if the player we want is there at 10, preferably Wahlstrom Boqvist or Bouchard in that range.

Just because teams are calling on Skjei does not mean he will be dealt. If he goes though...damn. Who is going to play defense this year?

Teams are calling on Zibanejad too, does not mean he will be dealt either.

Still, it makes me nervous to hear these names making the rounds on the rumor mill. Gorton would really be blowing it up by trading a young vet like Skjei or Zib.

For enough assets, even I would trade him if they get a deal they just can't resist. If something is going on there I have a feeling it could be Calgary again, sounds like they really want him.

yes he is

He gets regular time on with Jonathan Davis. He’s good on teams out west. My guess is he’s hearing from teams that are talking to the Rangers. He’s not getting anything from the Rangers.

Skjei is a RFA unless it's a sign and trade, or a trade and sign worked out before hand, I'm not thinking that works.
