I have liked Borgen and Vaakanainen on D since theyve come in. We need to replace Lindgren and Miller with guys who can skate and dont mind playing physical like new guys. If we can find a guy who can do that for 20 minutes a night it will solve a lot of our problems. Marcus Pettersson is the guy to trade for and extend.

I think Kaliyev will help. Guy fighting for his NHL career gets a fresh start. At least Drury is bringing in new faces. I dont like the sound of Kreider's back injury. Othmann and Kaliyev are 2 big body shooters in the bottom 6.

Rick and Donnie in Vancouver were discussing the JT Miller and Elias Petterrson dynamic. These two guys have been feuding since Travis Green was the coach who last coached the Canucks in 21-22. Actually Green was fired on December 5, 2021. Three seasons ago. It's ridiculous. You don't have to be Mats Zuccarello and Mika Zibamejad and love your teammates. They should be able to work it out for the betterment of the team. They also brought JT might be jealous of Petey's contract. $11.6M vs $8M.

The next iteration of the this team is going to be the early to mid 2010's teams all over again.

They have a lot of sandpaper and a lot of guys who are safe bets to be NHL contributors.

Elite talent is almost non-existent.

Granted, those teams had some good runs but they had a few really lucky trades and stumbled upon the perfect mix of players for what they had. It's the hard of way of doing things like it always is here.
And they had a coach who knew what he had, and used a system that played to the personnel's strengths.

I feel like ever since Torts, we just had coaches who either just threw players over the boards with no guidance, or forced them to play a system that wasnt suited for the roster.

When has Panarin been that type of player in the playoffs?

This isn't the point though. He still hovers around a ppg in the playoffs. People talk about him like he scores 5 points over 20 games all of a sudden., I guarantee you that there are teams, and I'd say quite a few, who see him as a guy who could come in and propel their currently very good team to a Stanley Cup. Even if he 'only' puts up a ppg or close to it

Rangers have too many guys who get put on their ass when they get hit, so it's nice to see Kaliyev is at least a hunk of beef guys will bounce off.
I don't remember him being a physical player. You can't base that from 1 hit. Apparently Kings fans didn't like that he had size but wasn't aggressive or physical consistently. 33 hits in 51 games last season is awful

He's definitely more of a guy who uses his size down low than he is throwing massive hits. He's pretty good in the cycle game and at coming off the walls to take shots
