Add another name into the mix.

They need bodies if they want to make another move without a call up. Wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot in Reilly Smith's spot.

Sustained a fractured clavicle in the preseason and was activated th Dec. 28th. Former 33rd Overall selection. Has a lethal shot and is on an expiring contract. Staten Island native 23 yrs. old

As a member of the "having a fractured clavicle at one point" club, I can tell you that it is very possible it will take a year+ to get strength back and I can't imagine taking a hit on the boards a decade later. Not optimistic on this one.

Yikes... which means his suspension is suspended until he's back on the roster... right?
Yes. He can play in the AHL though.

I suspect they were going to send him down after the Dallas game anyway, but this waivers chance threw a wrench in their plans.

Correct but honestly, they could find a way to call him up for weekday games and then send him down on the weekends when the Pack often play 2-3 games a weekend. I was surprised they didn't do that to begin with honestly just to keep him playing

Still need to clear room on the 23 man roster... right?

They would have to sit one of the waiver exempt players and do the reverse for this to work I believe.
I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) all of our waiver exempt players are currently playing in the lineup.

Short answer: yes.

We're still talking the same old good body nonsense. Like we're selling jeans. Like we're looking for Fabio.
im not saying this in favor of bennett necessarily, but hockey isn't baseball. the noncents matters. The character matters. the pugnacity, the intangibles, the fit. it all matters.

What an authentic Ranger plan to draft Hagens but not give him any playing time. Bravo.
That was added as an edit afterthought and I don't wanna work it out, maybe we execute Trocheck as a sacrifice to the hockey gods

Good move, but I am very surprised that Drury would claim a pure shooting wing. Doesn't quite fit the whole prevailing narrative of they need be tougher/play harder when one of the majors knocks on Kaliyev is that he can be lazy

Cuylle has been known as mainly a shooter. Othmann is as well. Drury doesn't seem shy about drafting or developing kids who like to shoot the puck.

I like this move. I think he gives some options to the top-9 honestly and he can play either wing.

Is Shesterkin coming back this week to play you think? Need to know if I start Quick and Domingue or Quick and shesty

Cuylle and Othmann are physical, hard skating, agitating players which Kaliyev is assuredly not. He is much more like a Daniel Sprong type.

I agree, but both guys like to shoot the puck. I sense that the next iteration of this team will be full of guys who are a bit more difficult to play against and who won't be overpassing

When was the last time a player like Panarin was traded at the deadline? And when was the last time a player like Panarin was traded at the deadline with another year on his contract?
any answer to this question is based on the assumption of "what kind of player is Panarin?"

Is he a dominant offensive force that would raise a contenders existing ceiling to crazy new heights for years to come?

Or is he a small, fading skill winger who is known to become easily neutralized and essentially ineffective come playoff time?
